>have military background >go to college>work small entry level jobs on the side. >the best one of these blows up in my face because I wanted a promotion. >jobs actually in my degree are either paying dog shit or never hiring. >apply for public service jobs. >get strung along for months only to receive a rejection letter. >apply for service jobs>get told I’m under qualified. Even when I worked similar jobs for years. I am literally considering moving to another country just to find work at this point. Like, my degree and background feel like a hindrance more than a help. What can i possibly do to get a real career with that could support a house and partner one day?
Hey retard. Maybe you should tell us what qualifications you have now so we can give you some advice. No wonder you're struggling with finding a good job. Your resume probably just says, "military background went to college a bit."
>>34473319> Maybe you should tell us what qualifications you have now so we can give you some advice. You guys don’t read long post. > Your resume probably just says, "military background went to college a bit."It’s 4 pages long and details every job I’ve held since high school. I’ve repaired boats, operated search and rescue missions, fixed radio towers, supervised a water park, fixed motors for that same water park, preformed in water rescue dives, preformed cpr multiple times, jumped out of planes, built houses, built ramps, dissected marine life, worked in research projects on spiders, and your occasional retail job to fill any gaps.None of this matters because no one here, or in an HR department, will ever read and pay attention. And that’s fine. You’re not getting paid to review my application here. I’m just asking job market advice.
>>34473346When providing experience only provide the experience relwvant to the position you're applying for. Don't spam them with everything you've ever done, pick out about three or four things that have skills you can apply to what you want to do.
>It’s 4 pages long and details every job I’ve held since high school. this is a mistake. tailor your resume to each position you apply and keep it at 2 pages. if you're apply to a service job, they don't give two shits about your being able to fix radio towers. AI can probably help with this.also, consider leveraging the military background to get a government job. maybe with CBP or something
>What can i possibly do to get a real career with that could support a house and partner one day?Maybe instead of asking this you ask how you can find a partner to help you support a house. It's not the 50's anymore where there's 1 breadwinner per family unit
>>34473458From where? The woman store? I can’t exactly date while unemployed or working retail.
>>34473356Isn’t this what a cover letter is for?
>>34473346>4 pages longWhy do people do this? This isn't impressive. It's annoying. Make your resume 1 page long, not 4. Imagine you're hiring people. Do you really want to look through 100 resumes and all of them are 4 pages long? No. No one wants that. If you can impress someone with 1 page that is way better. Tailor your resume to be shorter and customize it for the job you're applying for. For example: no one gives a fuck if you worked at a water park if you're applying for a job fixing cars.I have a masters degree. My resume is about 3/4ths of a page long. I can fit all my relevant experience on one page. Try that.
>>34473346Industrial maintenance.Make a list of every plant/warehouse/hospital/college within commuting distance and then watch for those kind of jobs to pop up and then apply. Key words are electrical troubleshooting and maintenance.Additionally you could look for something like a forklift maintenance company or vendor and then try to work your way in that way.If you wanted a different pace HVAC/Plumbing school sounds like a good way in. Union apprenticeships are usually easy enough to get in if you put enough time in.Good luck.
