Is it worth going back to school or just educatinng myself with books at the age of 27? I missed my highschool education because of illness and I think I need to know more but if I don't need to then just me going about my day as a savant? Does that matter?
>>34475542No, you are mostly solidified yourself as a loser at mid-late 20s, especially if you already dropped out from highschool and are not talanted in a way that makes money. If you don't believe me, just think of somebody that works menial jobs at your age and honestly ask yourself if you think that person will suddenly do XYZ and drastically improve/change their live. It's always a solid no that you could bet your non-existant lifesavings with.

>>34475542Yes, it's absolutely worth it. It's never too late to learn, and wisdom is always valuable for its own sake. Just be sure that you're learning things that improve your life, rather than mindless trivia.
>>34475649what would count as mindless trivia?
>>34475702Anything that doesn't make you a better, more capable person. Useful information will invigorate your sense of moral responsibility towards others, useless information will just make you conceited.
>>34475829So what would that be or what kinds of books could that be?
>>34475842Stuff like Emerson's essays, Epictetus's discourses, Seneca's letters, Boethius's consolations and Plotinus's Enneads.
>>34475905What about encyclopedias or crashcourse videos?
>>34475542the only subject in school that matters is math, and most people don't realize just how much it matters. get a book to review algebra, then pre-calculus and then calculus. you should also learn probability and statistics and combinatorics as those are by far the most important math topics to the average person.besides that, maybe try out different hobbies and see what you're into before you commit to one of them. like, playing an instrument, doing art, programming, etc... stuff that could be used later to make money if you get good enough and the industry doesn't get wiped off by ai too quickly (it probably won't for most things, contrary to what doomsayers will try to have you believe)
>>34476121Encyclopedias could be useful if you're looking up something specific, but trying to read one all the way through will just fill you with a lot of useless information you'll never apply to yourself. Avoid crashcourse videos and anything else that's meant to condenses other people's works, they never leave you with a thorough understanding and always leave you in a worse position than you would have been if you had simply not bothered. It's better to have zero information on a subject than a wealth of misinformation, so always stick to primary sources wherever possible. Commentaries are okay if they're within the same lineage, like Simplicius's commentaries on Epictetus or Origen's commentaries on Genesis, but modern authors are almost always more interested in getting you to believe their pet theories than they are in delivering accurate information.
>>34475542If you can do it by the next semester do it, you are just young enough for it to be kind of acceptable to date women in college. It's more about the connections you make (including meeting a wife etc) that is unless you go for something useful with jobs like a doctor or nurse.
>>34475542oh good lord I just read it again you mean high school? uhh maybe you can call your local government line like 411 and ask for help. They have all sorts of programs for the retarded. You can probably just get paid to be in a day program for job training or some shit.
>>34476715oops I think it's 211 just dont dial 911
