> Be me, 28M Turkish
> Back in High School parents tell me that I should study
> I study and get accepted to uni
> During uni, they oppose my gaming PC plans.
> Graduate from uni they tell me to get a nice job
> Finally get that job and finally decide to spend on your well-being, like a good gaming PC and save money for a sports car (not an expensive one, just something like a used a used BMW M3/M5, which are circa $30k)
> I get a fierce opposition from my parents that now I'm a grown up and those aren't what grownups apparently do, especially gaming.
> Despite a fight, I finally managed to get that gaming PC (desktop btw). My dad gets mad despite this and says that "all I need is a small laptop"
> For cars, they think all I want is to show off even though they clearly know I am into cars.
> I collect manga and comics too. Get told "those are only for kids" without even knowing their content. Yeah, Scott Pilgrim is totally for kids.
> I tell them that those are only their opinions.
> They lash out at me for difference in opinions.

Why can't some parents grasp that people do want some fun after years of studying and grinding? Why do they hate it when we spend the money we earn the way we want it?

>Scott Pilgrim is totally for kids.
It is
Or teens which you are well out of if you've finished uni and gotten a job

Ur supposed to become financial independent from them then do whatever you want

It sounds like you're still financially tethered (under their roof) to them hence they have visibility over everything that you do

Soon they'll pester you for grandchildren

At that point, what are you gonna do?
>>
>>34478555
I am not financially tethered other than just the house (I live alone but house is still theirs) and car. (Working on them btw). My only problem is just why can't they accept that the term "adult" is vague and not confined to a shape or form? Why are they so image obsessed and not letting go with the flow and enjoy life? Mind you, they have university degrees too.

As for the grandchildren, I don't mind it. I want kids too. And yes, I have a nice relationship with a beautiful (to me) lady I've met during a vacation.

Well, you can't change your parents. You're an adult now, and it's you that is living your life, even if you love your parents, you should not let your parents control your life, they did their job when you were a minor.
>>
>>34478592
I 75-90% managed to stop them controlling my life. They even admit that "I will always oppose their stance."
>>
>>34478537
Get your own place and do whatever you want.

>"those are only for kids"
So is listening to your parents. I wonder how they'd react to that one.

Ask whether they'll drive you to work and pack your lunch, since they're treating you like a toddler anyway.

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Read >>34478571 where I clearly say I live alone now. Also read >>34478615 where I clearly stated that I don't listen much.

>>34478927
What?
>>
>>34479011
Holy fuck why are you so belligerent? You're aware enough to dislike primitive behaviour from your parents, but not enough to notice when you're acting like a primitive towards me.

I thank god every day that I can live isolated from primitive people.

>>34481795
When did seeking advice become narcissism? Think for a moment.
