Will moving to happier nations cure my depression and sense of nihilism?
living in a place with a higher quality of life than where you are right now could increase your chances of feeling better, but don't underestimate the stress of having to assimilate with the local cultures, especially with particularly strict or foreigner averse countries like Japanalso, go there only if you have a decent enough job
>>34482033No. You'll just come up with new problems. Death is the only true escape.
Fuck Finland! Fuck it to hell.
>>34482086Why?
>>34482033No, not at all. Wherever you go, your attitude goes with you. A genuinely happy person is happy anywhere, and a miserable man is miserable everywhere.
>>34482033Well, maybe, but I think you gotta ask yourself why you're depressed and nihilistic on the first place, and how would moving to a different country change that.t

>>34482033don't move to finland. expats and immigrants have an extremely hard time finding any sort of friends or a social circle because here people tend to ONLY stick with their childhood friends, people have small circles and don't appreciate the idea of getting new friends as an adult, most are not receptive to that and (of course finnish people who didn't have friends as a kid or lost those friendships are in the same position).basically, it's a very lonely nation if you're an outsider. you can't just randomly make new friends as an adult like one can in more social countries.
>>34482134Plus, it is chock-full of hiisi. Do NOT come to Finland.
FUCKOFFWE'REFULL
>>34482033As someone from Israel who moved to the Netherlands - Israel is larping. It's not happy, it's a stressful place.I highly recommend the NetherlandsI heard Denmark is one of the only countries that could be even better than NL, thanks to their super suuuper strict immigration policies and just being absolutely civil people. But I personally wouldn't live there because I don't like how awkward and timid Danes are. It's like a society of introverted autists trying to avoid each other. Still adorable people though. Less autistic than the Japanese (mentioning Japan cuz there's some similarities there)Finland - I've never met a Finnish person who I didn't like. As for the country itself, I can't make any comments. Speak the language when you go there. It's probably a nice place, but I heard it's also cold and depressing.Sweden is goyslopSwitzerland is GG, good luck getting in there and even if you do, enjoy your coworkers shitjeef and xia houang wukong.Norway - I'm honestly not sure. I think they've been compromised too but not as much as Sweden, still, I'd put this country on the orange "maybe" list.Costa Rica - meme, like Israel. Probably reporting high satisfaction the same way people from the Amazon in Brazil say they're so happy but they live in a shit hole by our standards.Luxembourg - based, but Belgians/germans are very hierarchical and formal, I dislike it. Plus the place is so small, you're not getting in.Iceland - good luck getting in and you will be frozen and depressed, the people are awesome with each other though (but you'll have to speak the language and be one of them to truly feel that warmth)So my final score: Netherlands on top for the egalitarian, chill society of smart and civilized individuals.Denmark second for their exceptionally well functioning country with strong anti immigrant sensitivities, but really awkward people so not for me.And no none of these countries will fix you. They'll help, but they won't fix.Enjoy nig
>>34482033>Happier nations1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 all have astronomically high suicide rates. Seasonal depression. And are averse to small talk so you will have a really difficult time making friends. The metrics on these charts have to do with social support systems/benefits and health. Not mental health/fitness or daily living.>IsraelThey don't want you>Luxembourg, SwitzerlandYou're not rich enoughMoving can't cure depression anyways.
>>34482092Turncoated in ww2
If you think happiness can actually even be approximated by some questionnaire you are retarded. Best way we could truly gauge happiness would probably be looking at suicide rates and rate of anti depressants being consumed. Both of which put scandinavia as some of the most unhappy people in the world. You have to measure what people do to approximate happiness. Because if you just ask them, the answer depends on cultural norms and has nothing to do with their actual internal state
No, moving countries won't make you happy. Also,>all those Nordic cuntsNgmi if you're a burger (cause burgers can't into foreign language.)
>>34482434rural sweden is amazing and their english skills are native like
>>34482434>>34482965in fact, I would have moved to Sweden if they had less income tax. maybe I will move there for retirement (if I manage to retire in my 40s)
Move to a place with a better(hotter) climate and more extroverted society where you get the same or more for your buck. The >>34482114 is demoralisation by poor boomers so you stay and pay taxes for their pensions. You really are gonna tell me there's no difference when you live in Eastern Europe or South America society wise? Lol.There are like 4 real ways to increase happiness- wealth, sex life(romance), location(society) and drugs.
>>34483042>There are like 4 real ways to increase happiness- wealth, sex life(romance), location(society) and drugs.Chasing any of those will just lead to a worthless life full of regret and misery.
>>34482434Have you ever been to Denmark? What you said is completely wrong. People here are much more extroverted than the stereotype of scandis. Everyone is always with friends or partying when they can. People are not even slightly timid. Also immigration is not super strict. Like 10% of our pop is immigrants. It's not very homogenous if you live in the cities.
>>34482820Everyone in Finland's government who made that decision is old to the point of not running the country, or dead. Every country in WW2 is not the same country they were back then. Every single one. The entire world is different now. Come up with a better reason.
>>34482033It could but it'll also be hard to adapt. >>34482040 made a good point about Japan. If you aren't native born Japanese you will never have full acceptance there. Same goes for Israel if you weren't born Jewish. Also, you're more likely to get blown up by a missile or bomb in Israel. Being an outsider could make your depression worse. Moving countries is very hard because you need to learn culture, how to have the right accent to fit in, and sometimes "foreign" (the native) language. Also don't use the AI answer for your list of happiest nations. Even if it is accurate (but it may not be) I can tell this answer is AI because of the "Smithsonian Magazine +4" citation; +4 meaning 4 additional sources included. Actually go to the links and read the articles to make sure they are proper research. Google and Bing will put the AI answer at the top of the list. It sucks. I'm glad you're here and asking people, but yeah, also do your own research. There is truly something to be said about being surrounded by positive minded people can help with your depression. So long as you don't let your depression be known or bring the others around you down with your low energy. I encourage you to not make cynical comments if you do this, because you could convert the positive minded people into being cynics or nihilists by doing so. Like if they say something that is incorrect, don't correct them unless it is for their own safety.
>>34482812This is why AI answers (especially for social issues) are stupid.
>>34485229To clarify, OP's image is AI, not the person I replied to.
>>34482033>SwedenNo way. They're clearly not asking in the right places.
