I have blood in my stool.

I'm very afraid of having colon cancer. I'm getting an appointment to see my doctor soon, but what can I do to calm myself down?

Physically, I feel pretty much completely fine. I am not fatigued, I am a healthy weight, I don't experience any pain when using the bathroom, my stools are not too hard or too soft. I don't have problems with gas or cramping.

Still, I'm very paranoid of receiving a horrible diagnosis. I'd like to calm down and relax before my appointment.

What color is the blood?

red

I have IBS myself, so my life is constant bowel anomalies, blood in stools, blood when I wipe, stomach spasms, constipation, or alternatively, shitting non stop. Or shitting and feeling like I never shat at all. All sorts of shit. My point is blood in stool is not instantly somehow cancer. If your blood was red, it's most definitely not cancer. Cancerous blood is always dark red almost blackish red in color. Vivid red or bright red blood indicates a flesh level issue, probably inflammation or a tear (fissure) in your ass or hemorrhoids or maybe all at once who knows.

Does it ever get like...
For a couple weeks you rarely shit at all and it's hard even when you're drinking a fuckton of water and getting a lot of fiber and fruits and veg and stuff, and then other days you're shitting like 8 times a day?

Colon cancer blood is black and buried in the turds. Red blood is a sign of a hemorrhoid or fissure (small tear) at or just within the sphincter. It can be annoying and even painful, but it is not life-threatening and not cancer.

Ive had a lot of medical anxiety in the last year. Its best to NOT research symptoms as it will drive you insane. See what your doctor has to say and get your colonoscopy scheduled.

Yes 100% the last week I had zero shits, only urges to shit but not a nugget of shit happened. This week I can't stop going to the bathroom multiple times a day to shit non stop.

Thanks to all of the anons who posted in this thread.

I'm having the happiest year of my life so far, so I was anxious that my life was going to end at the happiest I've ever been. I've calmed down a good deal, and I think I'll be relaxed until I can talk to a doctor.

This isn't the first time I've had bloody stools, it's just that this is the first time I took it seriously.

This is something a lot of people go through anon.

You probably just have an internal hemorrhoid, you're fine.
>>

Red blood = your bleeding from your rectum, not colon.

That doesn't automatically mean you don't have cancer, but colon cancer is generally deeper in the colon where blood mixed with your liquefied shit before the water is absorbed. That makes your poop a very dark brown/black color. Other symptoms is your shits being longer and thinner than usual, and the consistency coming out more like ground coffee than solid shits.

Blood in your shit can also be other, serious but not cancer serious issues like a bad stomach ulcer, or an internal hemorrhoid.

>t. pooped blood, panicked, went to doctor, did a shitload of research before doctor could see me
>>
Some medications can cause this, but it doesn't mean you're going to die.
>I'd like to calm down and relax before my appointment.
Take propanolol 80mg.

I'm already on SSRIs, could that be it?

It's basically this >>34489570. You're struggling to pass stool such that you've injured yourself, or spending too long on the toilet in general (leave your phone outside the bathroom when you go). The fact the blood is bright red is because it's not old or partially digested. And if the toilet water is bright red (I know, it looks scary) that's normal too. Just a drop or two of blood can color it easily.

Definitely good you're seeing a doctor, but it's not colon cancer.
