Follow the steps. Then you wait for the email or phone call. If you get an email or phone call they will ask for an interview. The interview will either be in person or over the phone. And your last experiences with work
"Have you worked before, how long ago, what did you do in the job, what was your best day at work and what was your worst day at work. What things did you do good what mistakes did you do"

Then they either tell you that you can have the job if they think you are suitable. They usually tell you later after a few days or a week after the interview.

No you don't need to bring anything with you. Just make sure you dress well but don't over do it. Not too formal not too casual (don't go in a full suit but don't go in just a shirt and jeans either).

I recommend a white button up shirt and dark jeans, a combo of casual formal.

I do understand it. Sometimes I feel like asking the cashier or person at a drugstore how they got that job,for example, but I fear it might make them uncomfortable or something.

I wish I could help more, but I also got my job through connections. I simply asked if they had a spot open where they could fit me in, and they said ok.

In my case in particular, it was a very lucky chain of events, so I don't think it is particularly helpful.

I had a friend who was complaining that 'nobody wanted to do real work anymore these days'. I semi-jokingly said 'hey man, if you can find me a spot i'm in', he said 'for real? alright', and then a month later he contacted me saying he found a spot for me at his job. I then took a few exams, gathered some required documents (ID, proof of residence, proof of health, etc.), delivered the documents and talked with HR the day before the work started, got sorted out, and that was it. I learned stuff as I went.

But in general, if you know someone, I think there's no problem in asking if their place is hiring. Also, another thing that might help is, sometimes places have a paper saying 'looking for new hires' or some such, usually with a link to a website below. You can either inquire someone at the place about it, or you can access the link and fill out the required forms,

Perhaps start by visiting a local temp agency. You can also apply on the websites of local fast food restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores. Having a happy, positive, and respectful attitude when being interviewed is a boon.

Best way to do it is ask around. I've never seen anyone get a decent job by applying online. They asked around. Someone knows a guy who knows a guy who needs an employee, and boom. Job.

Hell, that's how I got the only job I ever had. Asked my parents, mom knew a guy, and boom. Had a job. Never submitted an application.
