Not remembering is one thing but if you also took no action to learn the details of what exactly you did, you will still look like you don't give a shit.It does not hurt to consult a lawyer to know where you stand and what the worst case scenario might look like. But I would not underestimate your chances if you try to talk to her person to person and sincerely apologize for having assaulted her and probably made her feel scared/humiliated.
