Should I give up on becoming a self-taught software developer? I'm 3 years in and I don't feel like I'm any closer to my goal. The "junior roles" have all but dried up. Every employer expects you to have a CS degree and 5 years of experience minimum. And now we have AI coming along, making it possible for 1 developer to do the job of many, which reduces the number of positions even more. All the signs are pointing towards a dark future ahead for tech workers, yet I keep holding on hoping I get to be one of the chosen ones that can make it in and make a living coding from home earning a 6 figure salary.
