There are studies coming out saying that extreme loneliness is more damaging than alcoholism, and lowers your lifespan by up to 10 years. So telling someone that it's "in their head" isn't helpful. A lot of stuff is "in our heads", but they still have very real adverse affects on people's health and quality of life.
>>34495191Oh yeah? Where does that information exist in you now, smart guy?
>>34495191How do you propose you're supposed to cure extreme loneliness? Could it be by developing and maintaining friendships? If you're hungry, do you have to eat?
>>34495191I wonder if chatgpt helps with that, they need to do a study about that.
>>34495615there are multiple studies and papers and case reports already out of people who are so entrenched into their delusional relationships with AI that they kill themselves or go into psychosis. not that i think ai inherently does that but it sure as shit isn't a replacement for the real thing. also look up wire mother / cloth mother study from like the 60'shumans need humans
>>34495191Being alone doesn't have to make you lonely.
>>34495191Whats the definition of loneliness though?I live alone and work from home, I dont see real humans much, but write and talk to coworkers or friends daily. Is that lonely? I sometimes feel lonely living alone, but I kinda enjoy the silence and peace at home.
>>34495191Consider the possibility (certainty) that those studies weren't performed with scientific rigor and can't be replicated. For example, did they study people who feel lonely, or did they simply study the act of being alone? Not everyone who spends time alone feels lonely. Modern "scientists" aren't intelligent enough to ask these sorts of questions before beginning their "studies", which is why there's an ongoing replication crisis.
