I just want to feel like the things I work hard on matter to people. If the more effort I put in the more invisible I feel, I have trouble finding a reason to get out of bed in the morning

People is a really fucking broad category, you need to find the people for you

the people for me aren't interested either

If attention motivates you, utilize that motivation rather than feeling bad about it. Do work that is inherently visible. You want positive attention, and you get that by doing your job well, so it's a win-win. You just need a job that becomes more visible the better you do at it. Any kind of performance career would be ideal... acting, sports, musician, news anchor, etc.

The people for you, by definition, care. You haven't found em
