Hey /adv/, need some real advice. My whole life I’ve never really fit anywhere. I come from a Ukrainian family, but I was born and raised in the U.S. I love this country like anyone else, but I’ve got a slight accent, and that’s enough to make me “not American” to some people. At the same time, Ukrainians don’t really see me as one of them either. Yeah, I speak the language, but I don’t connect with the culture. Be it music, humor, pop culture, all of it feels foreign to me. So to them, I’m just American. So I’m stuck in this weird middle ground where neither side fully accepts me.It actually affects my life more than I’d like to admit:>Try joining conservative groups? Eventually I get treated like an outsider.>Dating Ukrainian girls? Doesn’t work, we don’t relate culturally.>Meeting new American friends? “Hey Anon, you have a slight accent, where are you from?” every single time. It’s isolating as hell. Feels like I don’t really belong anywhere.Anyone else deal with this? What do you even do in this situation?
>>34500193You're meant to carve your own 3rd niche. You don't need to belong anywhere, you just need to find the right bitch for you to settle withIf you're raised in US you shouldn't even have an accentCulture everywhere is dogshit so it's best not to belong
>>34500193Bro, you're American. Yeah, people will ask where you're from, but that doesn't mean they don't view you as American. Is Arnold Schwarzenegger not American cause he has an accent? Fuck no, he's American af, he's the governator. Overall, focus on making friends and don't worry so much about your identity or whatever
>>34500193Hang in there another 2 years
>>34500193>>Try joining conservative groups? Eventually I get treated like an outsider.lmao who would recommend thatof course you shouldn't join conservative groups, those are guaranteed to have the retarded yxenophobic people that will never accept you're American
>>34500193It's similar for me. I'm a USA + UK dual national. It's like I belong to both while being an outsider to both at the same time. I think you just need to own your unique identity and connect with people on something besides heritage.>>34500235>If you're raised in US you shouldn't even have an accentYou inherit some of you accent from your parents since they're the ones who teach you how to talk and spend the most time with you.
>>34501273>It's similar for me. I'm a USA + UK dual national>It's like I belong to both while being an outsiderIf you're Anglo, you're not an outsider in the US neither the UK.>>34500193>Ukrainian>Try joining conservative groupsSorry OP, you're less American than a random Mexican. Nothing wrong with that? Why would you seek acceptance? Are you a tard?
