Should I be ashamed if I find out some very important bit of world news but only found it by looking for it because the major news outlets don't deem it "important enough" to cover (usually because it happens between dark brown people with Cold War-era AK-47s)?

>>34503732Because to me it feels like I'm just taking in whatever mass media forces down my throat and wants me to care about, burying the actual scope of how jacked-up the world is because conflicts in central Africa just aren't attention grabbing by the western world. But it is worth covering and to not do so makes me lose respect for those outlets and leaves me wondering how many important world events have been glossed over just thrown into the void because they don't fit with the interests of the news machine.
