Moving out at beginning of August. I live with my brothers and the oldest is a manchild thats pushing 30 and addicted to transformers. He throws fits at 3am when getting ready for a morning shift and throws shit when he doesnt get his way. Can't even clean up after himself.

He found out im moving out recently and has been trying to be nicer to me since but still throws fits. How do I gently tell him that hes the reason I'm moving out without sounding like I'm in the wrong? Its been 7 years almost with this trog and he still doesnt know how to wipe his own ass basically. I'd try to think of something myself but I'm too straightforward and hate padding stuff to feel nicer.

>How do I gently tell him that hes the reason I'm moving out without sounding like I'm in the wrong?
And what would the purpose of telling him this be?

So he knows that he can be better

he probably already knows he sucks, otherwise he wouldn't be trying to be nicer now

Yet he doesnt try. He never has. Not once in almost 7 years. All he does is complain about things he doesnt help with. Hasnt even washed a dish in that time.

Strongly recommend that you don't tell him.

He's like 97% of the reason why Im choosing to move out

The other 3% is bc I want some peace and quiet on my days off

See, you aren't in the wrong for moving out. You are just dealing with a person that will make you feel like you are in the wrong for moving out. You may wish you lived beyond any person's ability to influence you emotionaly, but you don't, so you have to make peace with the fact that when you tell him, he will do everything in his power to make you feel - and he will likely succeed - so that you cave in to his will, which you might do just so you don't feel bad. I'd wager its a trend that your dealings with him end up with him getting his way anyway. You will probably feel like a prick this time too, but do it anyways. And if his feelings matter to you more than his, you will find that you will get exactly what you care for: that his happines comes at the price of yours. Good luck to you, anon.

I don’t think there’s any gentle way to tell someone something like that. Just be straightforward and honest about it. I would also refrain from telling him unless he asks specifically about it.
