Why is it that when I'm listening to music on my headphones, I sometimes hear the song SLOW DOWN a bit? Not like Matrix Bullet Time slow, but like slow enough that it sounds distorted and like the pitch has changed.

I've listen on various headphones and earbuds, on different devices, played the exact same mp3 file on all of them. Sometimes it plays normally, other times it plays slow. I've even listened to different songs. The same phenomenon.

What the fuck is going on here? Is something wrong with my brain?

I really don't have any answers for you, I'm sorry. I will say, however, that I've experienced the same phenomena with some songs just recently. Specific ones that seemed really fast before almost seem sluggish now.

As a result I've actually been leaning into a more fast paced, chaotic genre of music to sate my current desire for new music to listen to. I really can't get enough of the new direction it's taking me.

Anyway, I feel that I should also mention I'm a bit of a reserved deep thinker that recently had an awakening about half a year ago so I'm not sure if that has any bearing for you but I can only say that most assuredly has something to do with it for me.

Blessings to you, and if you feel you need to go deeper into the sound, don't ignore the beckoning.

It's alright, I guess.

Are you by any chance moving at close to the speed of light when this happens?

Nah man, I'm serious. Like if a song has a tempo of like 174 bpm, all of a sudden it will sound like it's playing at 173 or 172 bpm. Then I have to stop it, then start it again till it sounds "right". It's weird as fuck.

>i'm convinced the pace of the song occasionally drops by a single beat per minute
schizo or obsessive neuroticism.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I did some research into this years ago because I noticed it to. From what I can remember, it has to do with the rotation of the Earth and changes in air pressure due to the Moon's gravity, alongside physiological and psychological factors.
