I'm realizing I have somewhat of a fear of women or something that has been festering since my teen years , im in my late twenties and still khv.

A woman could look at me or try to connect - but my instinct is to look away even if I'm into her or to keep chat to a minimum - almost like I'm trying to pre reject her. Now part of the problem is - I'm short, glasses, skinny nerd - I do have a good face card which is what even gets me any attention at all , but I never pursue it because I assume she'll reject me on a million other things. It feels like most of whoever s into me is just attention-whoring at the very most.

You're right. As a nice guy, you don't register with them as a potential interest, partner, or even as a man. You're just an easy and safe source of validation. If you engage, women will lead you on a little, but when you make a move, they will be shocked and quickly reject you, because they never even thought about you that way.

It's actually nice to hear it just said point blank - "nah it was in your head, move on with your life"
