I'm 40 and in a failing relationship that I know is unfortunately going to end. I'm not married and I don't have kids, but my life is incredibly entangled with my gf's (almost 10 years now) and I'm not sure how to prepare or if I should just keep coasting since at my age, and my third time on this rodeo, I don't really see myself getting back on the saddle anyway.

To anyone who's been in a loveless longterm relationship, how bad does it get after 10 years? 20 years? I just want to sit in a room and mess with a hobby or something, not deal with a huge heartbreaking blowup.
