how to start gaining knowledge about different topics without getting overwhelmed? for example i am reading an article about something and in that article there a lot of things that i don't know or understand so i'm always overwhelmed.

make a list of topics you don't feel well-versed in as you are reading or generally going about the day, then look up one topic a day and research it for a bit. eventually you may have cursory knowledge in most common topics.

Loremaster here. You must search for the etymology of words. Knowing the original meaning you can tell what they wanted to convey, knowing the primitive root you can identify words that relate and how they differ as they get used, and knowing the way the sound changes you can sense the same pattern in other words like that.

You start with the article, which may tell you all you really need to know. If you want more, go to an encyclopedia or Wikipedia for a short overall look at the topis. If you really really want to know more, find books on the topic.

I'd also consider buying books of topics that geniuenly interest you assuming you want more specific knowledge and you enjoy learning about the topic just for fun.

You are reading articles about topics that are too advanced for you. You need to learn the basics first, which is what every child does throughout their 12+ years of education. You have to start at the bottom and gradually accumulate more complex layers of knowledge. You can’t jump ahead or else you will be confused.

and where is that bottom?

What do you want to learn about? I'll take an example and do Firearms. You can easily go into any book store and buy a general book on firearms history with pictures and brief articles. Then you can branch out once you find yourself inching towards niches. Maybe you like WWI firearms development, or want to stay in the black powder era? Then you get books about that. There's websites and youtube series about all of that.
