I've been on here long enough to know 4chan is more than just /b/ or /pol/. It is just frustrating that they fail to acknowledge the wide diversity of boards on 4chan. Some of the boards on here are decent like this board for starters, plus /fit/ /mu/ & /his/. Just why do normies think all of 4chan is the same like /b/ & /pol/? And failing to acknowledge the wide diversity of boards? I'm not saying they should come on here, they should at least acknowledge 4chan is more than what they think it is, but no they would rather stick to their emotional biases towards the platform & cry on plebbit about it.

4chan now is just another normgroid hub like any other, but it didn't used to be that way. 4chan culture hit the mainstream sometime after 2016, and it made a bunch of people aware of gigachad memes, wojaks and incels and their lingo (bizarre to see), but it also seems to have killed this place by making it exactly like everywhere else. Creatively bankrupt too. Nothing of note has come out of this place for nearly a decade.

>Why do normies think all of 4chan is /b/ or /pol/?
Because they are tards. But there's a truth in it, even if you go to other boards, some of /pol/ and /b/'s behavior ends up slipping to these boards, or are you telling me you never seen other people calling each other racist slurs outside these boards? Most channers frequent more than one board.

>4chan now is just another normgroid hub like any othe
I don't think so, buddy. Not all people here are NEETs, but having a job and studying doesn't make you a normie, most people here are outcasts, and those that aren't, are hollow people looking for validation from strangers.
>>
>>34518402
One reason could be, that it's a more interesting narrative. The narrative and symbols are what matters. It makes life and the world more interesting. "4chan the insane pol place" is more interesting and dramatic than "4chan the weirdo imageboard"(with nuance).

>why do normies think all of 4chan is the same
stop talking to normies about this place you fucking sperg.
>they should at least acknowledge 4chan is more than what they think
are you some retard autist? No one cares. You might enjoy this place, but it benefits you none trying to tell people how great it is. Keep this place as it were. Damn bro, its like you're better off in Plebbit because you can't handle not telling people about this place.
>they would rather stick to their emotional biases towards the platform & cry on plebbit about it
go back. You dont fit in here and you are not about it

>The website with no rules
>get b& for talking about the looks of an actresses on /tv/
Also only /b/, /pol/ and maybe /x/ and /v/ really matter overall, as those are the one with distinct topics that stand out from other websites for discussions like leddit. Other boards are just slightly different that you don't need an account and mods are a bit less strict.
>>
>>34518701
I don't actually talk to anyone about it. I don't know where you got that from.
>>34518446
True.
>>34518427
I know.

Some things to take into consideration:
>it is easy to generalize, specially what you don't know about
>It generates more views to talk about scandalous topics
>/b/ and /pol/ do receive heavy traffic and are very 'iconic'
>trying to be reasonable and saying 'it isnt so bad' might make people think the person agrees with what they THINK 4chan is.

But yeah. Most people are ignorant to this site. It isn't the dark or deepweb, it's just an anonymous forum that covers a diversity of topics and has it's own subcultures, but if you ask a random normalfag who is aware of its existence, they'll likely say it is a place for all sorts of criminals and scum. Even though there most certainly are both here, it is not what it is about, just like Instagram is not just for stalkers or Discord is not just for creeps, or Twitter is not just for SJWs.

All that being said, this place has always had a tendency to attract some types of people: outcasts, loners, nerds, those who are depressed, downtrodden... I don't think most people have the energy to endure this place for too long.
>>
>>34518402
because /pol/ morons can't stay on their board and infest the whole site

even places like here, blue board, rule is no racism, but there's still jew jew jew n word this n word that i have to report each day
>>
>>34518804
/pol/ wasn't even "iconic" in the beginning. Back when it was /new/, it was seen as a containment board for insane stormfront schizos, but then moot deleted the board and it was like a septic leak and they spent years astroturfing the other boards.
>>
>>34518814
Yeah this board is ruined now. There's some lunatic here who keeps racist posting on every thread. DESU I enjoy throwing the thread off with him. Just keep ragebaiting him enough so he goes off on a rant ahahahha. 4chan's dead except for some good racist posting once in a while.
>>
>>34518833
That's true, but it is 'iconic' in the sense that it is what people associate with chan culture nowadays, unfortunately.

Exactly. When I first came onto here I was genuinely surprised by the diversity of topics that are on here. I wouldn't be surprised if normalfags stuck to their emotional biases about this forum, they all think "4chan is worse then reddit" & they don't trust this website or its users.
>All that being said, this place has always had a tendency to attract some types of people: outcasts, loners, nerds, those who are depressed, downtrodden.
Can confirm, I am most of that. It is because people like us have nowhere else to go. We don't fit in with mainstream society.

I always figured /b/'s culture was a direct downstream effect of its own notoriety. I figured it is the way it is to try to discourage the normies who're likely to encounter it first from engaging in board culture larp.
Imagine you're a normie whose entire exposure to the internet has been Facebook, old Twitter, Instagram and maybe some default subreddits. You think having 'fuck' uncensored makes it an edgy platform.
You see a reference on one of these sites to a post on this mysterious 4chan place. You've heard the news talk about this site in hushed tones. Maybe you've read an /aita/ post about someone's basement dwelling brother who's actively being radicalised by this shadowy place.
They think to themselves 'I'm a grownup, I can handle some edgy teenagers'
They head to 4chan.org.
>Oh, that board is called Random. That's probably a good place to start.
>>
>>34518402
Dont think you should talk about it irl.
