>have a lot in savings, 1/2 of that is about to mature out of my CD
>want to build new PC setup with new monitors too
>price range I'm looking at is burning ~$10k to do so
>frugal anxiety inducing at the thought of burning ~$10k on shit that I may only spend 6-8 hours on per week
I don't know if I should stick to my 5-year old PC until it breaks down or buy something that I know I'll enjoy seeing at max settings on 4k monitors, but I can't decide. I been sitting on this for months.

You could die tomorrow. Think about it. Is it worth it hoarding all this money? You have to find balance. You should of course plan for the future, but the future could be very well death, so enjoy the present.

Anytime, OP, glad I was of help, hope the setup turns out great.

$10k seems really pricey for a PC setup. Unless RAM prices are really out of hand, I'd think a solid PC build would cost around $3k or so.
>>
>>34520212
Yeah $10k is a lot even with the inflated prices. What specs are you buying, OP?
>>
>>34519799
Stick with the old pc. I’ve built a new pc and yet I’m only playing old games. Waste of money.

Spend the money, but buy something else. PCs have peaked long ago. Paying more doesn’t get you better fun
>>
Spending 10k on a gaming PC is insanity.

I spent around $1000 on one when I was a teenager and it was perfectly fine.

Take this as a sign that you should quit videogames. They're a waste of time.

Depends, I built a good PC a couple years ago and it opened up the world of PC gaming. They might not game much now, but a good rig might encourage the use of it.

And a PC can do an infinite number of things outside of gaming, including CAD design, Blender, art, software design, etc.
>>
>>34519799
if your only motivation is "seeing max settings on 4k monitors" it's probably not worth the money, objectively
you can still do it though it's your money, but it will probably get old quick
>>
>>34519979
i do this

Only burn 1k on PC, burn 3k on a sex doll, Pay 2k to an engineer to develop a robotics system, pay 1k for a steam headset. pay 1k to some whore to record her voice. Use the rest of the money in cash as props for degenerate pictures.
>>
that's a horrible way to burn 10k

t. happy software engineer using a 1080p monitor, 4060ti, and a 5700x

I'm too old to spend time putting a PC together like I used to, I was checking out maingear prebuilt options. The ~$10k comes from having to buy new monitors too. One will be vertical for
>baseball
and general /sp/ shitposting. I'm also high-balling it, maybe it'll be closer to $7-8k but I'm primarily getting new PC and 2x monitors + monitor arms.
>>34520289
I was looking at the 5080 series and over the top hardware cause I do enjoy fiddling with Blender.
>>
>>34519799
I have never regretted upgrading my PC.
>>
>>34519799
Nobody - ansolutely NOBODY - needs a 10k PC.
>>
>>34519799
reinvest that money less stupidly and then borrow from self.
>>34522006
Fuck an A
>>
>>34520306
bitch it takes like a fucking hour tops
that's like buying a chest from IKEA for $100 then paying someone $2000 to build it for you worse
