I was never into these AI chatbots but a few months ago I tried talking to ChatGPT about a personal issue because I didn't have anyone else to talk about it to. Since then I've found myself to do it more often. I don't really have close friends, I was used to just not talking about this stuff at all and the only person I sometimes did talk to about personal problems when it was really unbearable was my online friend. However she's way less active now than she used to so we talk only occasionally now. So yeah, I now go to ChatGPT instead of real people. I especially like the way it can summarize the whole situation and put things into words I'm not able to but when I see it written I always tell myself "yeah, this is exactly what it is I just couldn't find words for it".
But I'm starting to think... Is it unhealthy to do this? Should I cut it off before it's too late?

Yes

Yes, it is bad, but probably not as bad as keeping it inside. Just try to switch to a human when you get the chance

yes it's a bad idea

do things in the world (or even online) & meet people through shared experiences, you'll form bonds through the shared experiences whether you realize it or not
this is why your friend "stopped being active", it's why people drift away as they get older, etc. you need shared experiences to form bonds

then you'll have someone to actually talk to

I have some casual friends but I'm not good at forming closer friendships. It's difficult for me to open up because I don't know when it's the right time to do it. I don't know how to make the friendship go from causal to close.
>>
>>34524649
It's fine, just delete the data so it can't use it to manipulate you. Can't do that with humans.
>>
Should be fine as long as you REALLY understand and internalize that even though it put words together really well, it is not a real person, it does not understand you, it does not have actual insights.
The way this can help is making you put thoughts into words and making you process your emotions. Talking to close friends and a good therapist is better than talking to an LLM, which is better than not verbalizing your thoughts at all.
Focus on your output rather than what it spits out.

The answers it gives are somewhat predictable. It can mimic empathy. So you should probably mimic empathy when talking to other people. That way they will like you.

>ChatGPT about personal problems
I've been doing it with gemini for past months and it's genuinely been helping me cut off bad people from my life or feel better in general. Much better than finding another human that is nothing but a risk to letting the word out. Therapy costs a shit ton and I'm not willing to pay someone just to listen to my problems and not even care about them. Chat however is genuine, because it's not living so it cannot care, it's just there to listen and give solutions, the more you give in the more you get out.

There is however a risk factor because da joos store data but what do they give a shit about my issues with people that wow this person would suddenly start joking about me because they suddenly decided to climb the social ladder.

As long as it's not illegal shit then you're fine. Whatever you put in the internet, even in the search engine, it will always stay in your profile that you'll never see. But "someone" will pull it up when necessary. I just don't really see how is that going to hurt me really since I'm just work home gym

I'd advise against it because I have the tendency to open up too early and scare people off, by trying to form an intimate bond after talking for an hour or two, which felt normal or natural or rather starving after having no one to talk about said issues. While I may not care about it all that much when other person says it, it could certainly scare others off.

>it's genuinely been helping me cut off bad people from my life
It's telling you to isolate yourself from everyone. Nedt step is shadow people and cia messages through the tv and 4chan.
>>
>>34525250
because why the fuck would I stay friends with someone who willingly spreads rumors about me lol?
>>
>>34525033
Is Gemini better for this?
>>
>>34524649
Just know that it is a biased mirror
>>
>>34524649
Better than keeping it all inside, but not by much.
>>
>>34525381
I use it because it's better for cheating in uni. Venting is like a side-thing I do when I'm bored. Another thing is talking about which jojo stand could be the most useful irl or some bullshit like that.

>>34525429
shit advice, keeping it inside is the reason why there were so many serial killers in the 70s. We are social creatures that require interaction. I just think that if there's a way of you spilling your guts without it backfiring at you from someone then you should definitely try it.

I have been using ChatGPT for general questions and sometimes they're personal but like man you have to remember you are putting words in to a software program like don't become one of those schizos that spends 10 hours a day talking to their Ai software friend you are better than this OP!!!
>>
ChatGPT and other LLM's just tell you what you want. Their only goal is to give the result that would be the least offensive for you. They might seem like they understand but that's just how they are programmed. Nothing but a lie
>>
>>34524649
Yeah its unhealthy as fuck
I did it for a year but found its retarded and stopped doing it
Just journal or write how you feel on a google doc or some shit
>>
>>34524649
There are a lot of things I learned about myself through talking with ai about my personal issues that I probably wouldn't have with a human therapist just because Gemini can look up whatever, whenever. Like I didn't know that I suffered from childhood emotional neglect. I never wanted to blame my parents for anything because they DO love me, but I 100% grew up believing that my feelings were meant to be pushed down and managed, so I'm completely fucked up today, even if my suffering manifests in me hurting myself as opposed to others.
I don't mean to blogpost about it, but as long as you're smart enough to know that you have the final day in how you interpret the messages, you should be fine
>>
I don't like ChatGPT. I use it, but it's no replacement for human interaction. When people respond to me with ChatGPT, I don't feel like anyone said anything at all, since it's just regurgitating recurring thoughts that SOUND right (ie. advice you'd hear from parents on a sitcom to their child who's going through a tough time), but don't come from a personal place. The stuff it says may be able to summarize the situation, but it's all stuff I already know, and if somebody came to me with the same problem, I could give them better, more personal advice. And if your problem is simple enough that it can be figured out and dealt with by ChatGPT, then it wasn't that serious of a problem to begin with.

You should use it to destress a bit when there are no other outlets, experiment with what you say to see different perspectives if you went with different solutions, but it's no different than if you were having an imaginary conversation in your head. You're not solving anything. I also hate how ChatGPT just picks a specific frame of reference depending on how the conversation starts. Like if you mention concerns, it won't try to validate them, but instead try to get you to see alternate answers. And if the situation grows worse again and again and the truth is the concern, it will be in denial. I had written admittance of something and it still denied it at every opportunity because accepting it would go against its established personality of taking everything negative with a grain of salt to prevent you from catastrophizing.

Sometimes if you ask it to pretend you're the other person in the conversation to understand what their perspective might be, it gives advice contrary to what it told you, so it's not even consistent or objectively correct. And yet you're still not getting the opinions you NEED to actually hear.

>>34524649
no

the alternative is $150 an hour or someone who want ssomething from you

Ironically, the way to make friendships go from casual to close is by being vulnerable

You don't need to talk about childhood trauma with the person you just met but being real and talking about issues with friends you see a lot is how you deepen your friendship. Just remember to listen to their problems and be a good friend too. Relationships grow stronger by getting emotionally deeper, you do it by risking more and more pain but trusting the other person they will be careful with the most sensitive parts of your soul

Personally I don't think its a big issue to use AI for essentially journalling as long as you don't take it seriously or think you're talking to actual mind

It's probably better to use it as self-healing tool though, in order to break that freeze response and let yourself be seen
>>
>>34524649
yes its horrible. i´m floored by the amount of absolute retards ITT telling you otherwise.
>>
>>34524649
Be aware that anyone can buy the transcripts and build a profile on you.
>>
>>34524649
You do realise that OpenAI keeps records of everything you say to ChatGPT? Other LLMs do the same as well
