is a finance degree general enough where i can do a variety of different roles? is it a good degree to begin with if i'm not going to a target school? is worth?
>>34531526What your HS guidance counsellor didn't tell you:It hardly matters what your degree is in. THAT you got a degree tells employers you have some ambition and discipline; WHAT it is in matters a whole lot less. Only about 25% of grads wind up working in the same fields as their degrees. That said, an education that can be applied to a wide range of actual jobs is obviously better than one designed to push you into a narrow field.
>>34531539This. That being said OP, finance is one of the better "generalist" degrees you can get. You're not making a mistake by getting a finance degree. That being said, I'd say if you're smart enough, go for an engineering degree, mechanical is probably the best all-around. Even bog-standard business oriented office jobs like a guy with an engineering degree, not to mention you'll be able to get engineering jobs as well.
