How much is it frowned upon to postpone a job after they already contacted me bc they're interested, probably looking to schedule an interview? Am I going to lose the chance or are employers relatively flexible with this?

The upcoming week or so is a VERY bad time for me (I will be going through some rough shit and I need to try to keep it stress free and interviewing for jobs when I'm jobless is HIGHLY stressing).
>why apply then faggot
I did so a while ago in multiple places and nobody responded. I stopped after a couple of days anyway to avoid anyone contacting me or wanting to interview this fucking week. And I haven't done this before, I was told that it can take a few weeks to even have someone look at your application

Anyway, what absolutely reasonable but unbeatable excuse could I bring up to avoid from the start any interviews next week?

if you can postpone it 24-48 hours, contact them and try it
if you have to postpone it another week or more, don't bother, they'll probably refuse

try to manage ur stress anon

don't make excuses, contact them ASAP and be direct ("personal reasons, can we postpone the interview?"), they'll appreciate it

problem is I'll be in Peru at a retreat next week, everything is scheduled and paid for and I have no idea how to manage this. Even if I wanted to go along with the recruiting process, I might be out of my mind literally lol. And at the start of the week, lots of plane trips and being offline and stupid stress about the trip and the retreat

This is so stupid and I'm both grateful and excited that they actually contacted me. But also so frustrated and stressed that they are responding too fast which likely means they're in a rush or something and planning some talks next week.

Out of ALL THE WEEKS in this fucking year, it had to be this stupid week I can't believe my luck. And recruiting sucks so badly it's always 12345 interviews as if you're applying for country president

NTA but, you should mention this, you can tell them, ask for ChatGPT to craft a beautiful message saying you're interested but can't talk to them next week or so because of the trip. If you really want the job, and you don't tell them now, you'll expend your entire trip reminiscing of this.

Thanks, I think I'll try to make up a camping/hiking excuse or something, that would make it clear I have no access to phone and laptop for "anything quick". Not sure how good that will sound since this kind of trip you usually do with friends and you can postpone especially for "ultra important professional interests"
