Do Ia) Go back to college and get my BS in EEb) Keep working for $33/hrI was going to go back to college in August because I was tired of my $20 job. But I received a job interview for $33/hr should I take the job if i get it? Also college is free thanks to my GI BILL if go in August I will be done in 2 years because of all the credits I already have. If i take the job I could do it online but it would be another 5 years online.
Gopher it! EE is amazing and very fulfilling work. It’s a whole ton of math, though!Peace!
Does the $33/hr job have a path to actual serious big boy money in 10, 20, 30 years the way a real career like EE does?Go for the degree, don't waste that GI bill
>>34532933It’s been 3 years since I done any real algebra or calculus. You think a month 2 months is enough to relearn it.>>34532943The job is Radio Technician 2. I’m pretty sure it caps at tech 4, which is like $38-$40hr.
>>34532963>You think a month 2 months is enough to relearn itIf you were good at it, maybe. Look for james stewart's calculus textbook, i'm sure it's on libgen or someplace for free. Thumb through it until you get to a point where you're totally lost, then review everything in the previous "classes", ie if the subjects in calc 2 look crazy, go back and just review calc 1 and everything before. Community colleges let you test out of math courses, mine can let you test out of calc 1 to take calc 2 right away. But honestly it might be worth just retaking the classes if you didn't earn credits for them at an ABET accredited program anyways, because...>The job is Radio Technician 2You should've mentioned that in your opening post! RF engineering pays great (way fuckin more than $40/hr), super stable, and defense contractors always needs RF wizards. It is, however, the hardest and most math-heavy discipline within the arguably hardest and most math-heavy major so, like i said, it might be worth going back and REALLY locking in hard on calc and calc-based physics and retaking those courses. I'm biased because that's what I'm pursuing, I think it's dope as shit and I don't even have a background in it like you. As former military with radio tech experience you will 100% get a job if you can relocate to a defense hub, assuming you don't live in one already
>>34532963I think you will take any math classes you need. The EE classes themselves wont have that much (i think)
>>34532963>>34532989In case you need more convincing to consider a career in RF lol (though the highest paying RF jobs are likely in RFIC design which is kind of its own animal, board-level RF or antenna engineering would probably be lower on this pay scale)
>>34533007>The EE classes themselves wont have that much (i think)Dawg EE is the most math-heavy undergrad you can take outside of a literal pure math degree or a physics degree lol
>>34532842If you think you can handle electrical engineering, go for that. You will be opening a lot of doors for your future self by doing that.
>>34533014Whatever nigger
>>34532989Well I guess that settles it, I was leaning more towards just working but I will finish my degree I will be 30 by then but I will finally get it done. You guys can let the thread die now.
>>34533086Based, gl nigga, see you at lockheed's offices o algot. will be done with mine when I'm 29
>>34532842In my country I earn $1.60 per hour.
