Are pets worth getting? I live alone
>>34535030if you like to travel, no way Jose.if you'll be in your city and wfh, yes wayI remember losing a friend cus he got a dog lmao
>>34535069>if you'll be in your city and wfhI wfh but like to travel
>>34535079get one once you have babies tying you down to a citybig happy family. Travel lite, like a boss.it's not that fun to date people with dogs
>>34535030I say yes. A cat is a nice companion. If you can care for it, a lizard is low maintenance but you shouldnt handle it often. Dogs are nice, too, but im not a dog person and think that they're too much work. You should care for an animal like you would care for a child. They're living things.
>>34535030>Are pets worth getting? If you don't know whether you want one or not, you probably don't.
>>34535212I do want one, but I don't want to regret it 10+ years once I'm past the honeymoon phase
>>34535030>Are pets worth getting? I live aloneYes, and no. Depends on what you consider a pet and what you want to put into it. Do what I do and get an aquarium with fish or shrimp (freshwater). Its the most top tier pet of all>equipment can easily be acquired for free (tanks, filtrations, decor, etc)>you can try different things with one setup and if you dont like it trade it in (breed a ton of fancy guppies in a 20 for fun, trade them for other fish or store credit to a local store)>you can even make extra money if you breed the right things (I bred a pair of super red bristlenose plecos which produced a hundred babies in one clutch, sold almost all of the babies for $12 each after a few months)>want to go out? want to go on vacation for a week? a month? fuck it just autofeed or dont feed at all, my blueberry shrimp colony sustains itself>live in an apartment or rent out a room? no worries! throw 5 or 20 gallon in there.>have to move? just trade your fish in or put them in a bucket overnight who cares>want a pet with personality? get a cichlid like an acara or chocolate cichlid>no vet bills, no pet daycare, food is far cheaper or free if you know what youre doing>have allergies or dating someone with allergies? not my problem!dogs and cats suck unless you are retired with a big home. anything else is marginally better but sucks when compared to fish keeping. I dont know why fish keeping/aquariums isnt more popular.
>>34535030>my little pittie would never harm anyoneThese people are fucking braindead.
>>34535118This.Friend/spouse with pets, especially a dog, becomes a fucking downer on everyone else because plants have to be arranged around the fact that you can't go anywhere for more than a few hours unless the dog comes too. Also, dogs are great, but owning one has become so performative when I hear a guy who doesn't have kids has one, I assume he's a boring douche. When a woman who doesn't have kids has one, it's a safe assumption she's fucking it.Cats are cool, but if you're a single guy with a cat, people think it's weird and/or gay. Doesn't matter if it is or not, what people think of you does matter in life, that Doctor Suess bullshit is great for your self esteem, but ignores how much people's perception of you actually does matter for things.
>>34535030>Are pets worth getting? No. Get a girlfriend. She can have pets.
Manage a fishtank. Don't dunk your junk in it.
I love my dog and he's my first and I've had him for four years now but he's got separation anxiety and screams every time I try going anywhere without him on weekends. He's thankfully used to my morning routine and doesn't scream when I go to work. But on like Saturday if I try leaving after I've been up for an hour or two he will scream bloody murder and I have to keep him in a closet so people can't hear him. Other than that I do love him lots but I unironically think kids would be easier at times. At least they can communicate (eventually) and tell you what is wrong with them or where it hurts or what they want. If you ever think you'll date or get a partner just something to consider. Then again some people give no fucks and just treat pets like accessories and will crate them all day so..
>>34535240Unless you're fucking it, I don't think you need worry about a "honeymoon phase". What is it that you want?
