My friend is asking for 2.5k and I'm cautious if that is too much to give
>>
>>34535088
>My friend is asking for 2.5k
I would tell him to fuck off, honestly.

Why does he need the money and why he doesn't have any? Before helping a poor bastard first know why he is a poor bastard in the first place.
>>
>>34535088
>borrow
Are you sure he is borrowing? For how long? When is he gonna pay you? Is it guaranteed he will pay you? Has he ever borrowed anything from you and returned or not returned?
>>
>>34535088
Well that really depends...

>how long have you known him?
>what is the money for?
>how old are you both?
>does he have a family to take care of?
>what will happen if he doesn't get this money?

This is a really broad post anon, it'd help us out if you were a bit more specific. But since you're so fucking adamant to want an answer now, I'll say help your friend out, give him the money, and don't expect anything from it. If he pays you back in the future... great! If not, whatever. You're his friend for fucks sake, help a nigga out.
>>

nothing. 20k isn't enough to even cover 6 months of living for me, that would mean i was in extremely dire situation where every single day was about saving and scrimping
>>
>>34535099
>give him the money
>don't expect anything from it
Gibs me that!
>>
>>34535088
A good rule of thumb is to only loan out money you are willing to lose. Just assume that you are basically giving your friend that money and he will never pay you back.

If youre saying you cant afford that, then dont do it. Also just take an honest assessment of your friend. Is he usually reliable and a good person whos just down on his luck? Or is he kind of a fuck up and is irresponsable?
>>
>>34535088
Setup a loan agreement through a service like lightstream. Standard contracts, automatic repayment system, and whatever interest rate you want to use.
>>
>>34535088
tell him to get a credit card at a bank, almost any bank will give a credit card for 3k these days.
>>
>>34535088
Dont do it

Never leamd or give friends money
Trust me

twenty dollhairs

Is it appropriate to beat someone's ass if they don't pay you back? I am a generous person who's willing to help out anyone in need at least once, but I loaned my co-worker close to a grand and he hasn't payed back yet. Thing is, I've given him 3 months and he keeps complaining about how being broke all the time, yet he places many sports bets literally every single day. I promised him I would be grant him leniency and to take the time he needs, but the retarded sports betting is making me seethe, I wanna snatch his phone from his hand and say it's mine now as collateral. He would go ballistic, dude is addicted to his phone.
>>
>>34535088
None.

NEVER loan money. There's no such thing as "borrowing" money. You're just going to *give* him $2.5k and that money's gone.

Not only that, but from now on you'll have him, his friends, and anyone else who heard about your generous donation up your ass from now on guilt tripping money out of you.

>There's no such thing as "borrowing" money
I beg to disagree. I am the guy in here >>34535095
>>34535098
But I have lend money many times and got paid back. As I said, it all depends on the situation. His friend is different, I am having this feeling that he should tell him to fuck off, but there's lots of people in need of money that would pay you back and be grateful, it really depends. But most of the times, the answer is "fuck off."

>I loaned my co-worker
>he hasn't payed back yet
>I've given him 3 months

You'll never see your money ever again, you're a sucker for lending to an addict. Imagine lending money to a crackhead, that's what you just did, couldn't be me, lol
>>
>>34536207
same here. My old best friend got himself owing me 1k in argentinian pesos because his mom was dying and he didnt have anywhere to live bc they were evicted. i gave him 3 months worth of rent and food and he paid me back every cent by the 5 months. It might've be a loss for me at the time, but it saved him and granted his mom at least a couple weeks more before finally expiring. It really depends on the context, trust, and yeah trust basically. I did that out of really wanting to help him, and my delusion i could make it back in crapto in a week kek.
Might be americans never paying and forever unshameful
>>
>>34536233
if anything, anon, gimme that. I can put it to much better use fixing my life right now lol. you should really assess the motive and not ask your... feelings? at all, but logic. how much time are you willing to give him to pay? to that add 1-2 months more if the person is really fucked up, and visualize yourself in that span of time. will you need that money?
>>
>>34536233
I think you did the right thing.

>>34536233
>argentinian pesos
>Might be americans never paying and forever unshameful
Crazy, we're actually neighbors, I'm also from SA, so you might be unto something, lol
>>
>>34536207

Well perhaps I am, but like I said i'll lend a hand to anyone one time and if they don't respect, they won't get it again. I can live with not getting it back, the money i gave him was out of the winnings I made when he tried to get me into sports betting anyway. I just used the free fan cash all the apps give you when you sign up and cashed it out, never did it again.
>>
>>34536250
all im glad is that he didnt got to spend nights on the plaza around the hospital just because he didnt got anywhere to stay.
>so you might be unto something, lol
you know its different down here man.
>>
>>34535088
Zero fucking dollars
>>
>>34535088
You should invest most of it and pretend to be broke.
>>
>>34536266
>you know its different down here man.
It definitely is, it definitely is.
>>
>>34535098
>Are you sure he is borrowing?
Yeah. He’s going through a difficult transition in life and it’s pretty important
>For how long?
I told him he doesn’t have to pay me back immediately. We talked and I said i’d be ok with monthly payments of $100-200 or anything higher if he is able to do so
>When is he gonna pay you?
In about a year
>Is it guaranteed he will pay you?
I mean there’s no way of garunteeing anything
>Has he ever borrowed anything from you and returned or not returned?
He borrowed $200 for an immediate important reason and paid it back a couple days later when his work sent him money
>>
>>34535088
Only ever give people money you are willing to never see again.
Personally I wouldn't be friends with the type of person who thinks it's ok to ask their friend for 2.5k. Like fuck off I'm not lending you an entire month's income. I don't think I've even asked my parents for more than $600 in one go.
