Speak for yourself, I started using 4chan a few years ago because I like talking to randos on the internet about stuff like cooking tv shows cinema etc... It reminds me of being a young child/teenager speaking to randos in MMORPG's about your interests outside of the actual game. I dislike forums because people judge you on your username and I HATE internet communities. Normal people don't have "internet friends". I always knew of 4chan but didn't see the point of it much until I got older and I started feeling the needed to talk about hobbies/celebrity drama on /tv/ what have you. I'm fairly active on /ck/ and it's one of the funniest boards and the people on there seem to be genuinely well adapted and often very successful people. I like /v/ for the Final Fantasy threads and talking about old/nostalgic games console war threads etc... Some boards even have no wojack/pepe policies.

Boards with more women like /int/ for example will gladly ban you for saying sandnigger or making a joke about nafris but they will leave up jew hate threads. I have mixed feelings on 4chan. With inadvertent training, I have now reached a point where board humour is the only type which really sends me, earnest humour just doesn't do it any more.
I also feel that while the majority of posters here are and always were equally retarded and emotional as those on Facebook et al, there are enough intelligent and witty anons left that I think even considering the daily tranche of bullshit, this is the least stupid mainstream site in intellectual and gullibility terms, at least outside of poltards, /b/ and r9k posters.
Saying all that, you're two clicks at any point away from cunnyposting, unironic neonazism and gore, so by any objective sense yes it is.

I was 11. I found the place from ED as well, and I later read and posted on SA when I was around 15.
I quit reading 4chan for a few years afterwards, from 2014 to 2017. I didn't like the new culture that was beginning to develop here at the time. I also started using Twitter a lot at the time, following that circle of posters who either wrote for SA or posted there and the people they retweeted and replied to.
By around 2018, I had lost interest in SA and Twitter and came back here.
