As a 23 y/o fulltime NEET I decided I should use my time a little more productively so I decided I should learn gamedev and make my own indie game. but the thing is I kinda hate how hard it is to learn this hobby, I'm lowk burntout. They say obession beats talent and shit, how tf do I get obessed wit it?if I get obessed and hyperfixated to it the pain of learning new things would go away, and I would be in a trance like learning state the whole day making my indie game.I'm capable of intense worhshipping btw, I used to be a hardcore fulltime gooner, now recovered and trying very hard to divert this sexual energy into hobbies. how do I make learning blender fun? It lowk feels like slavery right now. when I try to rig or animate something. on top of that I get intense self-doubts and uninstall everything thinking I will never make it. Then reinstall unity and blender again the next day. I fight with my self-sabtage personality everyday. Please advice me how do I numb this pain of learning new things in your early 20s
>>34546993try a hobby that involves going outside. I find physical hobbies to me more fulfilling and less frustrating. I've been doing blender for over 4 years, Python programming for around 3 so I'm speaking from experience here.Try and get a bike and just ride wherever, there's no pressure when you're just riding around, take in the scenery or whatever. Maybe takes some cool shots while riding around and make photography a side-hobby.
>>34546993>They say obession beats talent and shitThat's just BS. Obsessed people ARE TALENTED people. The thing is, when there's something you're just good at and you get recognized for it, you get obsessed.
>>34546993>how do I make learning blender fun?You can't, everything is boring at first, then you get a bit better at it, and start doing the things you imagined yourself doing, and then the fun starts. It's a process.
>>34546993Game development is more like a 2nd job than a hobby, try other things until you find something you enjoy the process of.
>>34549261>>34546993Yeah you've picked a thousand-hour project for fun OP.Shooting the shit about gameplay and worldbuilding ideas for a game with your mates = funSinglehandedly coding, creating all the assets for, testing, debugging, optimising and releasing said game = a job, and a mammoth one at that. You really need a financial incentive for something like that anon, a hobby should be recreational and relaxing for you.Mine is flying model planes and FPV drones, as well as flight simulation and ham radio stuff
>>34549280>mine is flying model planes Tell me your neurodivergent without telling me your neurodivergent.
To get in a flow state, you need tasks that are slightly harder than your current skill level. If it's boring, it's too easy. If it's so frustrating you want to give up, it's too hard. You need a little bit of challenge, but not so much that it overwhelms you.
Start small because being a gamedev especially a solo gamedev is a daunting task for 3D titles. Create small games with pixel graphics
>>34546993>if I get obessed and hyperfixated to it the pain of learning new things would go away, and I would be in a trance like learning state the whole day making my indie game. That's not real. In reality, working is hard.
>>34551985Nope, just a nerd. When we contract "you are", we use "you're"."Your" is used to refer to something that belongs to the person you're addressing. As in:Your lack of literacy tells me that you're illiterate
>>34552067This. Research games made by solo devs and limit yourself to those genres. Also vibe coding works surprisingly well for game dev.
