I have no clue why this happens to me, but whenever I make a social media account I am immediately hit with a massive wave of anxiety which does not end until I delete the account. The platform I make the account on is irrelevant. I only have 2 social media accounts which I use regularly, YouTube and Discord, and I keep both locked down extremely tightly. I have deleted or do not use any other kind of social media, at least on a regular basis.

I feel as if I am constantly missing out as there are tons of online communities that I would like to participate in (or have and then left) but because of my anxiety I never get around to joining. Even 4chan can cause me an extreme amount of anxiety from time to time, but because the threads delete and there are no username I find this platform more agreeable to me. I have no clue what to do as I genuinely feel as if my hobbies and interests are being kneecapped as I am unable to get over myself.

The crazy thing? I have almost no social anxiety and am a rather sociable person irl.

i have bad news for you

this thread will be archived forever. palantir is already using ai to comb through these pages to find out who you are based on your pattern of writing.
nowhere online is safe.
discords giving your information straight to palantir too.
us taxpayers give government their money, us government uses the money to pay social media for your data, and you continue to use social media and feed them your data. the cycle is complete.
>fomo
all this online stuff is bullshit. online friends are extremely flakey. you're not missing out on anything.

I am aware that they are archived however once they are archived they go away and cannot be interacted with. No one can ping you and no one can respond. I am also aware that the entire internet is a honeypot, but oh well. The only true form of anonymity is anonymity by volume.

the definition of an anxiety is a fear you can't explain
i would give yourself exposure therapy. make a social media app for whatever you think you have fomo over for a day or so and see if you are actually missing out on anything interesting.
i can try to tell you it's all bs, but none of that will convince you.
what exactly do you think you are missing out by not using social media?
instagram is for people to gloat about their nonexistent amazing life, pornhub is lust, facebook is for people to stalk and envy others. it's just a jungle for bad behaviors. it's all a farce. i think it was people that used social media were 3 times more likely to be depressed.

You have some good points. Maybe this is just my natural protection mechanisms working properly.

i have a theory that everything online is a half-assed solution for something you can find outside.
you can talk to people irl, drink together, party, or you can go to vrchat and hang out with mentally ill retards. yeah yeah you can go to the pug world (in vrchat) and find some interesting conversations with some level of anonymity, but it's not the same. not even close.
it's usually the efficient escape from reality, but the poor choice if you want something real.
this is why so many retards come here asking for advice on how to find friends or a woman, but melt when people give them options that include stepping out the front door. they want the efficient escape because it is what they are used to and they are addicted to comfort.

this patient is a basket case who has already filtered good solutions before asking for help. his only remedy is to hang out with retards on /soc/ or vrchat because he's unwilling to donate the calories and confidence to find people in the real world.
what he will get is a solution of schizos and flakes, as is usual with the internet world.

Social media is gay, go participate in those "online communities" and get bored and leave
