Landed an interview at [big name place you all know] and terrified. I am recently laid off and have been going through the interview circuit. Many times getting to the final round, but never an offer. They get easier, sure, but this one is high stakes. If I fail, I at least want to walk away knowing I tried my best. How do you prep? What tips and tricks do you know?

>>34858208gonna sound lame, but i focus on the basics. hydrate, i do box breathing before the time of the interview, exorcise a bit. the latter is for just taking my mind off things.the practice (which i imagine you've done plenty of already) is go over questions they may ask.i think the 3 worst things they could see are: dress/appearance, not having an answer to a question, and appearing in fight/flight (nervous).i usually hold onto the lowest dose of nicotine patches too just in case i'm going into something that will be very stressful that day. they last 24 hours but take an hour or so to work. it helps take the edge off for me. last one i did was 3-4 months ago so i have a lot of self-control with patches, but that doesn't mean they will or won't be a problem for you.good luck
>>34858253for the question about what's your interest in the company i'd have a good answer. just google something they're working on that sounds remotely interesting or engaging. even though the interview is on you, people love to talk about themselves, so if you can cook up a question to ask them about the job, a project or whatever that ties to them or the company that would help. it makes you sound more engaged too.another thing is if you can try to remember their names and refer to them by that. this is from reading how to win friends and influence people but i think its made people more receptive to converse with.interviews are often less to do with whether you are fit for the job, and more if interviewers like you as a person.
>>34858208Look up any "leadership principles" the company has. Every big company has something like this though they might be called something else. Come up with a story from your career (or time in school if you're still a new grad) for each one that demonstrates you executing on one of those principles. The stories can even be made up or embellished, nobody will fact check it as long as it sounds reasonable. They will ask targeted questions about this kind of stuff in the interview.Also look up the company's mission. If you have any kind of experience doing something similar, even in a different industry that's worth mentioning. If it's a technical position like engineering or quant do some practice problems and look up what the company might ask. They usually have a rotating set of technical questions they switch out every year or so.More than anything else just be a normal fucking person. If you say some shit like "I've always had a passion for leveraging synergy to increase shareholder value" you and I both know that's bullshit.t. senior engineer at [big name place you all know] who does interviews
what are your weaknesses?nerves? your stories? technical knowledge?there are mock interview sites (some free/cheap) that let you trade interviews with other people. helps with the nerves, especially if your technical skills go to shit under pressure
