I enrolled in a 2.5 year long distance sysdev course because i'm interested in learning how to code, but even my super successful programmer friends said they're gonna be out of jobs soon due to AI.If so, what else do you guys suggest i learn instead? I have severe social anxiety and have been stuck at home working a shitty family job (taking calls, helping on the shop when needed) for the past decade. I need to find something i can work from home and not talk on the phone with clients.I finally got a bit of momentum and i'm managing to keep moving regardless of my bad mental health but i don't want to learn something that will be obsolete before i even finish studying. Who cares? Just pick something and keep grinding until you outlast everyone else who gets ground into dust. Entry level work is fucked everywhere and for everyone. Even the trades don't need freshies anymore. The only thing anyone cares about is experience and if you don't have it you can eat shit.I see 3 options. 1, the robots kill us all. 2, the robots take all the work and we enter into a socialist utopia. 3, the robots take all the work and we enter into a plutocracy where we're less than slaves because slaves have to eat and robots don't.
