Been seriously considering going back to school for a different job/career but I am wondering what would be the best one for me as I have aspergers/mild autism. At first I was thinking of accounting or something finance related but apparently it's not really aspie friendly as you have to deal with clients and bs workplace politics shit so I've been thinking of something more technical like IT or a technician of some sort like in medicine for example. IT might work but apparently when starting out you are doing service desk work where you are dealing with clients/people and AI alone is making IT work harder to get in general. Being a technician in the medical field (like a Cardiology technologists and electrophysiological diagnostic technologists for example) might be good for me but obviously I will have to work and deal with other people despite it being technical and repetitive work. I also thought about work like this because despite me being an aspie/autist, a part of me could see myself enjoying doing work that helps other people as my mother was a nurse most of her life so I respect people that work in the medical field. I have also thought about maybe working in a lab or something also but I don't know much about that to say anything more about it. Not sure about blue collar work as I am 37 now and am not really build for manual labour, I want to do a job/career that I will be able to do as I get older. I've also thought about being a truck driver, I could see that being aspie/autist friendly as you are basically on the road and not really having to work with other people for the most part.I just want a repetitive, easy going, possibly stress free job, preferably a desk job or something. Would like pay to be over $40k a year, preferably $50k. If it could be a job that's around $70k a year I'd be totally happy.Any advice would be much appreciated.
>>34986858Desk jobs often come with bullshit drama, and besides they're very hard to get these days unless you do some networking. In your case I'd probably recommend getting into a trade (e.g plumber, electrician), they aren't super physically demanding, (probably) pretty repetitive, and you could probably make about 70k a year if you're working a decent amount of overtime and/or are in a union. The 2 truck drivers I know are clearly on the spectrum so yeah, the job probably is pretty nice for autists, but they both had a special interest in trucks and vehicles in general so I am unsure if autists who aren't into trucks would enjoy being a trucker.
Bump. Any feedback would be appreciated, please and thank you.
>>34987016>The 2 truck drivers I know are clearly on the spectrum so yeah, the job probably is pretty nice for autists, but they both had a special interest in trucks and vehicles in general so I am unsure if autists who aren't into trucks would enjoy being a trucker.Yeah I don't have a special interest in vehicles, just heard that it can be aspie/autist friendly. Are they long haul truck drivers or do they just drive in the city and stuff? Appreciate the response thank you.
Trucking carrier set up/risk evaluator.
>>34987029They're both long haul types, I believe. I'd say that's the way to go if you're willing to sleep in your truck, I'm pretty sure you get paid more if you do long hauls, and you get to drive on significantly more "relaxing" roads. Driving in an urban area sucks.
>>34987043>Driving in an urban area sucks.Yeah I can only imagine, I drive a honda civic so driving a truck I would probably prefer driving rural.
Any other people who can give feedback, possibly people who have worked in accounting/finance, IT or a technical job in medicine? Thanks in advance.
Oh I should also ask about Data Entry work, anyone has experience with that? I've read that it's good for aspies/autists.
>>34986858>not really having to work with other people for the most part. There aren't any jobs where you aren't interacting with people. Give up looking. I am an autist. There's nothing for us. Doubly so if you have some of the habits in your chart:>Special InterestsThis means you will not be able to turn your brain off from thinking about your interests for a part or full work day and while normies might find their jobs just boring, they can put on a fake smile and deal with following strange and unfamiliar orders just fine whereas you probably can't>Experience Sensory OverloadThis means you will have a panic attack the first time and every time it hits you that you are obligated to be in a strange place at at certain time doing things out of your comfort zone for strange people who are normal unlike you. You will have that moment on the first day of every job ever. And you will grow to hate everyone there. No matter where I go I will disappoint someone with the poor job I do.
If you’re in the US go get a PTIN and learn how to file taxes in the next few months before 2026 filing season. Plenty of opportunities if you can make it through even 1 tax season as a grunt learning how to enter data and file basic returns. You can find places with limited interaction and work remotely. You should also just get over trying to find the ideal special interest job. Train autists make the worst train employees more often than not. Just find something you can at least manage to get out of bed without wanting to give up on life.
>>34987492I know it won't be easy but I know I won't be able to live like this when I get older. It's either adapt or basically just be homeless or kms later on in life.>>34987528I am Canadian but I could look into filing taxed maybe, worth a try.>Train autists make the worst train employees more often than not. Just find something you can at least manage to get out of bed without wanting to give up on life.Unfortunate to hear about train autists being unsuccessful in their desired field. Yeah hopefully I can find a job that I can tolerate, kinda looking bleak desu.
>>34987528not him but I actually applied for jackson hewitt to be a tax preparer. The hiring manager called me and set me up for a two week virtual course. He said he would check on me in a week to see my progress and see if I wanted to continue with the job opportunity. He also gave me the option to do the course at my own pace or follow along with instructor led courses through daily teams meetings. It has been one week, only got through two lessons and never showed up for a teams meeting because I had work during those hours and realized I had given my webcam to someone. Haven’t heard from the hiring manager either so I’m probably cooked, but it’s my fault. Is tax preparation good for career mobility? I actually have a degree, but no one will hire me. I just want to work in billing or data entry
Bump. Good replies so far guys.
Have you considered local government work? Municipalities are almost always hiring especially now because budgets are finalized this time of year at least in the states. You can get a good career going if you stay long term. Look into Waste Water or public works jobs, they’re a little physical but not tradie-level work and don’t always demand experience.
>>34990791I'm Canadian but will look into that also, thanks for the suggestion.

>>34989176Tax prep with no further education can get you to a decent living situation, but you will hit an educational wall without a master in taxation, a masters in accounting/CPA cert, or a JD/LLM.I have a JD, so I do tax prep mainly as a side job and as like 25% of my main work obligations are filings. You can easily end up being a manager or team lead without further education. But you’ll cap out after like 5-7 years if you don’t pursue further education. You can prolly make 100k or so filing if you are 1) entrepreneurial or 2) find a law or accounting firm and work there for like 4-5 years. You can’t just stick at these strip mall type locations though. Just do that for 1-2 seasons then jump to a real company after you’re not useless.

Quality control. In my area, food quality labs for places that do any sort of manufacturing or packaging.I was a supervisor for a while, and as long as had a few people that had lab training, we hired plenty of people without any schooling or lab experience. Some of my best working staff didn't have anything, but were fine because they could learn a detailed repetitive task and show up.

It's comfy and your autistic hyperfocus is highly validated and appreciated there.Workplace politics will always be athing wherever there are humans involved, you just have to get lucky with a company, usually the bigger companies are better because they have HR to deal with such bullshitAvoid bluecollar jobs, they're not comfy, despite what the conservatives want you tho think./thread
>>34987218>Any other people who can give feedbackDon't do truck driver, the job is stressful and sucks, you're literally in a moving cage with sunlight beaming at your skin all the time with idiots on the road, fuck that. But of course certain people want you to think it's a great career choice (for them so that you take the bait) or maybe you'll unironically enjoy it, idk
>>34986858I'm the anon that made this thread >>34992340I don't know if I have autism (what degree) or not, but OPicrel is pretty similar if not literally me, right now I'm doing the master, I just 4 weeks in and it's literally making me go insane. The worst part is the constant procrastination because I actually don't like it but my parents force me to have a good CV for a good job with good salary. It also kills me seeing the list of all the signatures I must do, plus all the works with all their requirements (X thousand number of words, X number of pages), plus internships, plus the Master's thesis (with all its pages, SOURCES and perfect structure). This has a solution? Can I become a well adjusted and productive individual or I damned to be like this until the end?I just want to live in a nice place and have a job that (even if it doesn't completely fulfill me) is at least stress-free and well-paid, so I can lead a life ranging from decent to good.

>>34987016>trade (e.g plumber, electrician), they aren't super physically demandinghold right there anon, you never worked a trade
>>34996603my bad, i meant to say "one that isn't super physically demanding", being an electrician will usually be physically easier than being a roofer or a bricklayer for instance, but even those ones are definitely still fairly hard on your body in the long term.

I'm not autismo but bpd/schizo and work directly with management/executive level as a sort of specialist. You would think all of these normalfags are fucking autistic after being around them for awhile, it is the same shit and pattern from them every single week. Honestly you have to expose yourself socially a bit with a data analyst type job but if you can pick up on the basic retarded small talk nod and be agreeable, talk about the weather, and food with these "people" you'll be fine
I need advice on a social situation.A woman was ranting about know-it-alls, how they are always trying to impress people and should learn to keep their mouths shut. I learned after the fact that this was a rant directed at me, at least partially but probably entirely.I felt hurt and unwelcome in the social group after that because I was just interacting naturally and wasn't trying to impress anyone. But even after the emotions settled down, her pathologizing the behavior and prescribing the solution of "keeping their mouths shut" leaves very little room for me to reintegrate into the group. According to her, I'm one type of person and the fix for that is no longer engaging with them, so where does that leave me?
>>34998951oh, it's related to a job but the details around that didn't matter. my bad, no other autism threads atm.
>>34998951>>34998952It means you should accept that they don't want to hear new information, they are content not knowing anything, in fact, teaching them something new is a direct threat to them. Does this help? I know what you mean, I worked many jobs and the unfortunate truth is that you need to treat normies like defective unrepairable robots and you will be much happier
You should look into manufacturing jobs that have a low barrier to entry they usually have unions or atleast the ones in my state and all you have to do is make sure the machine keeps running smoothly.

>>34996278Not that anon but it's a combination of employers filtering out autists because of the emphasis on agreeable personalities over skill in the hiring process and women covertly adopting a eugenicist stance in regards to autistic males by refusing to date or fuck them at all. Before anyone accuses me of being an incel based on the latter point, I am actually pro-eugenics and think that we should get filtered out of the gene pool, I just wish that society would openly admit it rather than pussyfooting around and everyone trying to convince themselves that they like autists and retards.

>>35001808I've heard this "if it wasn't for autism we'd still be living in caves" bullshit line a million times before and it's all fake. There aren't a much of autists in all these STEM fields like people claim and there weren't a bunch of autistic geniuses in the past like normies claim all the time, the reality is that autistic people are NEET retards by definition and any of them in actual careers are outliers. We're genetically inferior so we deserve to be bred out, civilization would be better without us.
>>35001808Okay but WHY are nordic people more autistic?
>>35001939Don't fucking say that. Love yourself more.
>>35002738Hard to love yourself if you know you're inferior to normal people
Control panel/power distribution panel builder. You sit alone with a blueprint, parts, and wires.
