Cats pushed to their limit edition
Why are some cats so weird looking
>>5033793Lol that absolute gremlin on the left
why is my cat so long and how come too?
Can /an/ recommend good cat toys? My fraidy cat always looks bored af just standing there. She grew up on the streets before becoming a shelter cat, so shes anxious and gets scared of automated toys that move on their own. She chases laser pointers but I always feel bad because she'll chase it forever but never get any satisfaction from catching it or killing it.She likes those fishing rod toys, but no matter what product I've tried they all break fast and they have bad reviews about cats swallowing parts.
>>5033893Get one of those ball towers.
We're putting Oogie down tonight. He's been living FIV for years, tonight we found out he has fluid around his lungs and its probably cancer. He was fine a few days ago, then suddenly he wasn't eating and started having problems breathing. Adopted him 5 years ago, tried to give him a good happy life off the streets. Its hard to say goodbye.
>>5033897I'm sorry anon. Rest in peace, oogie.
>>5033898Thank you, wish we could have just a couple days longer
>>5033894They are rare because they are genetic defects with poor survival odds fyi.
>>5033903Beautiful boy

I'm a truck driver and there's a herd of stray cats at the truck stop in Lodi CA.I had seen strays before but had never seen stray kittens before in the wild.Mom was hunting across the street
>>5033937The cats at the truck stop are freeYou can take them home
>>5033897I’m so sorry about your cat, anon. I hope you stay with him when it’s time. I don’t regret it at all for staying with my boy when they had to put him down. You need to be there for him
My boy had a dental cleaning today. I've been worried that there would be more complications or extra care needed but he's been home for 6 hours and already not groggy :)
>>5034013I just got home, have the biggest headache from crying so much. Miss him so much, the pain is unreal.
>>5034024So sorry for your loss.
>>5033894Fucking hillbilly.
I've been feeding some stray cats and their kittens in my garden for months, but some keep pooping in the garden. Is there any way to stop them doing this or to dampen the smell???
>>5034099Can you stop stray cats from pooping outside? Unlikely. If you're trying to keep them out of a small garden you can try erecting a barrier.
>>5033894>Hunters preserve Nature! No, stop disagreeing! Nature would die without them!!!!!!! REEEEEEE!!Is humanity done with this hunter bullshit now?
I wish I had a cat
>>5034109>nooo the animal was a different color noooooHunters are based and redpilled. The bobcat population is much better off with fewer black ones around.

>>5034370Y not? Those cats need love too
>>5033907Lies. Melanistic cats do well.
>>5033893My kot likes all kinds of animal plush toys, small to and rod kind for running after and big for kicking. Anything to stimulate the hunting instinct.
>>5034368Still processing, was really hard to go to work today.
I like holding my cat up to a mirror then rubbing my face on her head while she looks disappointed.
>>5033893You’re going to need to be diligent about the toys, even if it is hard to chew on. My cat loves these worms, and they can last awhile if your cat doesn’t try to gobble them down like mine does. If they don’t, you can leave it out by themselves without the rod.You could also get her a puzzle feeder
>>5033894>gunIf you actually read that story from 2016, it got snared by a trap.
Yo what is this nigger saying?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmx6HS4j5zk&ab_channel=ViralVideo
>>5034699they do that when they're angry and confused
>>5034545That sounds cute. Does she have much of a reaction to herself in the mirror alone?
>want to adopt a cat as single male with no previous cat ownership is this even possible? they make you do a virtual tour of your place and have a two stage interview process. wtf I thought getting a cat was easy
>>5034905Bro just grab a cat from the side of the road. You can just pick them up and lock them in your house for the rest of their lives. No big deal.
>>5034905Fuck karens. Buy a can of salmon and a litterbox. Leave your door open. Wait. Shut your door. Schedule a spay/neuter ASAP. Use an nfckill to wipe the chip if any (or buy a normal chip reader if you’re not sure how to wipe them). Figure out the catio for the litterbox later. Watch cat training vids on youtube. You are now an expert cat owner.
Had my creature for about a month now. I'm taking a weekend trip and I'm worried about how he will do alone. I don't want him to think I'm abandoning him. He was abandoned at the shelter. He also has anxiety issues and takes a pill for it so he won't be able to take it for 1 1/2 days. Is there anything I can do to be sure he is extra comfy while I'm gone?
does anybody have a good webm of the ratchet cat?
>>5034905It is easy? Just procure cat.>>5034916Ideally you'd have someone visit once a day.

>>5034960wtf?this is anti-vaxx level cult superstitious dumb
He was sitting like this for at least half an hour today
>>5035022when you werent looking he was reading a book and smoking a cigar
>>5034910>leave door open>come home, awaiting new cat>my TV is gonewhy would a cat take that? wtf dude
>>5035022I wonder why cats sit like that sometimes
Is it normal for a cat to sometimes just completely change what it eats? Last time we were at the vet with it he told us that the cat is perfectly fine and it even ate more after its surgery while its mouth was hurting than it does now, im so confused. The cat is still in the upper percentile of weight so its not starving to death any time soon but still, what is going on? Just raw meat can satisfy it now and its asking me for food in this very moment. I tried every cat food i have and every treat but its not interested.
>>5035127And here is the cat in question. Male Persian, 5kg, a little over 10 years old indoor cat. He was indeed a little chubby and his belly feels more like that of a normal cat but im still concerned. He is asking for food but won't eat what he used to.
>>5033801Woah
The clingiest cat ever
>>5034916Will be just fine. Say goodbye leave him/her more water cups than usual and don't not leave the house too tidy also leave your clothes around, there will be no problem but hopefully anon knows more than me regarding advices
>>5035159>don't not leave the house too tidy also leave your clothes aroundvery good advice btw. Make the environment look like you are still there. You are just at work for a bit longer for all the cat knows.
>>5035130>spoil cat with best food>surprised when thats all they want
>>5035164I was not the one feeding that shit but even so i know that it was done sparingly. He ate his usual food alongside it with no issues. I feel like this behavior only recently happened and its not like he has completely abandoned his ex-favorite food. Takes two or so bites and just looks at me.I don't think that the meat is the only factor but i will have a stern talk later.
i miss my kitten
>>5035161It also just makes the place smell like you which is a big factor for cats
She likes to larp as a bird.
I thought that a mom's familiarity with humans would dispel a kitten's skittishness but that little guy doesn't seem to care that his mom runs up to me when I approach and goes to hide in pipes. Kinda my fault, I should have started this sooner when it was just a baby I knew she was pregnant but I couldn't find them.

So got a 1 month old kitten a few months ago. She's happily grown with the family and is used to our sleeping patterns and has no issues with me picking her up whenever I want and even lets me wear her as a hat, i like laying her on my head and she just stays there while I walk around only getting off if its time for food. I'm still pretty new to owning a cat since she's the first cat I've ever had and only have experience with dogs but what are signs to look out for in regards to which family member she's the most attached to because my mom is deadset on the cat being very much attached to me even though my sister can also get away with similar silly actions like me. It was easier to tell which member our past dogs were attached to. Here's my cat. She's about 5 months old now.
>>5035809cute catto answer your question, i don't know
Professional cat grooming: yes or no?
>bro just steal your cat or take one prisoner
How much time and attention do cats really need? Is it realistic to even consider adopting a couple of them as someone who lives alone in a decent sized house but is gone for work for 10-13 hours M-F? They'd have to be indoor only too (but I'd seek out a bonded pair so they have each other for company)A lot of friends with cats have suggested it, but I'm not sure if they're underestimating how much time I spend away from home, or if I'm overestimating the needs of cats.
>>5035809Who cares. Cat will follow and hang around whoever they enjoy most. I once moved in with a couple who owned multiple cats and the cat they knew as the bitchy aloof one started always hanging out in my room and would even jump into my lap.>>5035833If you get two I think it's fine, they'll keep each other company just fine, as long as you're still there to clean and feed every day.
I adopted this 3 month old kitten today. Thoughts?for some reason she's obsessed with trying to climb on top of random plants
>>5035825Its not theft. Roaming cats are abandoned.
>>5035886Looks really cute and pretty! Are its eyes still blue?Mine are yellow-blue mixed since i got him at 2 months old and now at 3.5 months they're still the exact same.I wonder when they'll change.
>>5035821Not unless needed, like if cat got into a big mess that you can't handle alone. For most cats it's an unnecessary stress.
Check out my kitten brehs.
Had to get my 7 year old cat put to sleep today, shed been unwell for a while but suddenly really badly deteriorated last night. Just want to curl up in a ball and scream right now
>>5035976I'll give rate: Kitten/cat, would give pet.
>>5035994My condolences anon 7 years is not that old...
>>5035821only if you fell for the long-haired cat meme
It has been only 2 weeks and there are still no issues. Amazing that we didn’t even need to a serious quarantine when we brought our kitten home. The only downside is that the kitten gets jealous if I try to pet our original cat and would attack him immediately
>>5035821No. Just drug them with pot or benadryl and dunk them in the tub at home. You do need to bathe your cat. But you don't need to, and shouldn't, have a stranger manhandle your 100% cognizant cat. The buggers are retarded and even much smarter and more social dogs do not default to liking manhandling and hose downs from strangers and have a difficult time adapting. For cats, it can cause enough stress to literally kill them.
>>5036161Stop sniffing your dog's asshole it's disgusting
I think my favorite think about cats is squooshin their hedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xia5ubDoVRo
>>5036227You do, in fact, need to bathe your cat. They get dirty underneath all the spit washes.
>>5036288I jerk my cats face off. Not being crude, it's just the best way to describe it. Same motion and and position. Like a whole head/face massage. He loves it.
>cat will literally only eat kibble>doesn't even recognise anything else as food>vet suspects he has IBD>tells me to put him on prescription diet>cat gets tired of his prescription kibble after a month because he's a picky ass eater and refuses to eat>just sit in front of his food bowl and meows in protestThis little nigger is lucky I love him because holy shit this shit is getting on my nerves
>>5033893My cats both love this thing. One is pretty anxious too but she still likes to swipe at it.
>>5033893It might take a while for the cat to figure out the toy.
>>5036417But one they do, they go crazy. have one long race track one and my cats love it.
>>5036417>>5036462I have one and she only played with it about three times.
>>5033893These springs are a total game changer. My cats love them and will play with them for hours. I've given them to friends and their cats do the same. Cheap as hell too, and they don't have fuzzy bits your cat can ingest. Highly recommend.
>>5036503I'm worried about them scratching her eyes but I'll try it.
>>5036505Nah, they're fine. No higher risk than playing with another cat. They mostly flick them around and chase them.
>>5036506Okay, thanks anon
My cat daughter ate some weird black string/fluff... No idea what it could have been. I was brushing her, she moved her head down to sniff something on the floor, when she moved her head back up I saw that stringy shit in her mouth then she swallowed it up without waiting a second longer. She didn't gag after, and she seems to be eating ok, so I'll just have to keep an eye on her stool for now. She's older so I get worried ;_;
>>5033894the anons replying to this seriously believe this trait would be passed on to its children if it had lived, actual idiots who don't understand how genes and mutations work
Help, my cat loves having sex with my blanket!
Just followed /kot/ advice and got my cat blazed and bathed. Worked like a charm and yes the water did change color. I even got to clip his nails. Highly recommended/10.
I hope my kittens grow to become ninjas and get rid of the pest digging holes close to my house
>>5036790German shepherds are so retardedSmart dogs know to stalk cats, not yap at them.>be my dog>walk past cat twice while not looking at them>circle back>lay down by a bush 20yd away and wait for cat to be distracted>come up from behind 3 minutes later>chase cat out of the yardmy dog is smart
>>5036417this, or the bigger version that looks like a racetrack. I have one with suction cups, and I have it stuck to my door at an angle and he loves to try and get his paws through the little holes so he can roll it up hill and make it fall back down and light up. Get the lid of a yogurt or sour cream container, those make perfect cat frisbees. I've never seen a cat who wont launch themselves across a room to pounce on one. The plastic springs someone mentioned are good too. They have these dried silvervine sticks with some feathers glued to a velcro strap around it. He loves to find and hide it in my dirty laundry for me to find when I'm doing laundry.
>>5034916He did great. Had someone come give him his pill and clean the litterbox and got back the next day. He knocked a couple things off the counter but did great otherwise. When I got back he immediately jumped in and out of bed with his favorite toy in his mouth and attacked it on top of me and then took a nap on my leg. Then he slept between my legs when I was on the couch. Such a sweet boy.
>>5036815They really have a myth that you should finger a dog's butthole if it attacks you
>>5036486Mine play with it in binges but not that often sadly. They just all sleep now and they are not even that old.>>5036505Why not bend and melt the pointy its into a harmless state?
>>5035918The eyes are a mix of yellow and green, I think?

hi cat anons, i recently got a 6 year old male from the shelter. he's a very, very big guy. tuxedo if it matters.while extremely chill and friendly, he has been getting into it with our 1~ year old female tortie.occasionally, sometimes with her provoking him, he'll chase her all around the house. it's not constant, but it has happened most every day. he gets laser-focused on it, and it often results in her screaming and screeching like she's being murdered.the worst that's ever happened is, once or twice, a bit of fur was taken off of her. no blood.now, the chasing is one-sided. he's much bigger than her, and her screams are literally bloodcurdling, but he doesn't show any outright aggression. we've never heard him hiss, growl, put up his haunches or bristle his fur. he just chases her until she finds a hiding spot, at which point, he'll often pull back.lastly, there's the fact that outside of the sporadic chasing sessions, they coexist perfectly fine. they've slept right next to each other a few times, hang out in the same rooms without constant bickering, and the female seems perfectly relaxed. it's just when he gets riled up that he chases her, and she gets terrified.what should i do to help this? i've been around to try and discourage him, by trying to distract him (or if that fails, gently petting him to calm him down, which often works)i really, really don't want to have to get rid of this guy. i just adopted him from the shelter and i genuinely adore him (i volunteer and he was my favorite for weeks)what are my options here? is it as much of a problem as i am making it out to be?as i was typing this, they stopped staring at each other. he's now lying down with his paws crossed in front of him, and she's lying down in the window. perfectly relaxed, but i am concerned she's scared of him and just happy because she knows he can't reach her.apologies for the text wall, i am frantic about this. i utterly adore him.
>>5036855Fantastic man
>>5037049It's not a sexual thing right? Do you know if they were fixed when young or later? I've had cats that have wrestled and had fur fly so that's not necessarily that bad. If they are comfortable around each other that's a good sign at least. To you have a good amount of toys? Might help him get some energy out if you can find a toy he really likes. Also please post pics of them anon.
>>5037069the creatures in questionmale (black and white) is desmond, 6 years oldfemale (sleeping tortie) is rosiethis is them most of the time, it just gets rough sometimesrosie was fixed as a kitten, desmond was fixed later in life as you can tell by his big face.sorr y for late reply btw i was actually at the vet with him
>>5037084Good cats. I hope things get better with their fighting. Keep us updated about it.
My 9 month old hitler cat won't stop crying if he can't do what he wantsHe hears the neighbors stomping around upstairs and wants to go investigate but there's no way for him to go up thereA moth got in yesterday and he started screeching because it disappeared behind the fridge and wanted to play with itI dunno if it's an anxiety thing or a boredom thing. I try to play with him as much as possible but he only really responds to a few toys
>>5037084It's just his assassin blood anon
>>5037185What do you do when he whines? It could be anxiety. Does he have any urinary problems? I have a cat with anxiety who starts to be unable to pee if he is too stressed. He takes a pill for it. It's normal they will make noise at bugs that get away.
>>5037084Thanks for the lovely photo! So sorry about whats happening; i can hear rosies screams you described it so well! The only experience i have is with cats that get along or absolutely despise each other!Think your onto something trying 2 distract Desmond when he's focused on rosie.Good luck; keep us posted!
>>5033893laser pointers are like the cheat code of cat toys, they are the only way I can get my cat to get off his ass sometimes
>>5035022Wow, you're cat is doing better than me. I don't have a nice leather chair to lounge in. i guess I don't live right, good on 'ya, cat.
>>5035127Maybe your pudgy cat is just wanting comfort food after his vet experience?
>>5037190>>5037184we took him home from the vet as i said earlier, just a free check-up + rabies shotrosie walked up to him, sniffed him (including his butt) and let him be.no incidents since, he's just sleeping off his shot.pic related him in the sink at the vet
Is this a cat?
>>5036505They're quite small and pliable. Have you seen the things cats squeeze their faces into, regularly?
>>5037069I have two brother kitten that wrestle all the time. When the bolder one goes to far, the shy on give away a little cry of pain to let his brother know he's going to far. Otherwise, they sleep, eat, drink and use the litter together np. They are very close and they supported each other. I'm happy that they spend all day wrestling and playing hockey with a sushi toy because I don't have to do anything. I live in a rural area and there's a lot of predators outside, so it's good they learn to defend themselves.
Time for a walk
>>5037317why the fuck did it upload sideways
>>5037210the vet visit was almost a year ago now. Just mentioned it because as i said it should be way harder to eat imminently after it than now.I found some cat food that the cat will eat so i think reversing this behavior is not impossible but still.Very weird. The cat is still way above starving and is still on the thicker side so i think its fine for now.
hello /kot/, bit of an odd situation that would benefit from some advicewe've currently got one female cat, 16 years old, who used to live with her twin brother until we had to have him put to sleep a couple of years ago. she missed him for about a week but quickly grew into enjoying having the whole house to herself without needing to share attention, hiding spots, toys, etc.today we came across a kitten standing in the road crying, who we managed to get into a carrier and take to a vet. the vet estimates she is seven or eight weeks old. checked for illnesses (perfectly healthy) and checked for a microchip (doesn't have one).as the cat is healthy, the vet is not allowed to keep it, so has essentially released it to us for safekeeping while they try to trace the owner. they did say however that if it is stressing our older cat out, we should take the youngster to our local shelter (no-kill and well renowned for their services in the UK). the two cats have briefly met, the older one growled and hissed but didn't attack the youngster. they've now both separated themselves into opposite sides of the house.it is likely we will end up re-homing the little one unless both of them act comfortably around each other, but until we are able to do so, do you guys have any tips on how to make this situation as stress-free as possible for both cats?
>>5037383This is actually a pretty normal initial reaction from a cat seeing another cat in it's territory. I'd say give it a week and keep the two in different rooms that are close to each other. Exchange items between the rooms so the cats can get accustomed to their respective scents. For five minutes each day try to safely introduce them to each other. Put a cat in a cage and bring it into the room and let the other cat see them. If it gets too hostile separate them again. Unless your cat is a huge nigger its typically not impossible to socialize your cat to a new one with these methods. It'll take a week or two for them to get totally comfortable but if you put the effort in I bet you'll see them grooming each other in no time at all.If you do have to put the kitty in a shelter you'll at least have the comfort of knowing it'll be adopted fast cuz its so young.
my cat is in labour and she's having real difficult time, she gave birth (barely) to one kitten (dead) and i had to help her with lubricant etc and i'm worried that there's another one inside.I live in bumfuck nowhere so there are no vets nearby at all. I need practical advice please.. :(
>>5037389>Unless your cat is a huge nigger its typically not impossible to socialize your catthis may be where the situation fails sadly, although she may surprise me yet. In the meantime I'll follow your tips, and your last point about her being adopted fast is helpful to hear so thank you!
When will the anti cat schizo give up?
>>5037406Good luck anon, and keep us posted on your attempts. I've had to do this before and I see your cat not being physically hostile to the new kitty as a pretty big positive towards her warming up to her. My older cat was actually a little violent towards the newer younger one at first but we took time to properly get them used to each other and they were loving on each other in record time. They still fight occasionally like siblings do, but they're a bonded pair now. I hope it works out because its always better to know a baby like that is in good hands instead of hoping the next owner is a good one.
>>5037408There is no anti-cat schizo. Cats are just flawed and imperfect creatures due to 10,000 years of misinformed plebs letting them outside to breed at random, so it is inevitable that many people will have problems with cats that would be unusual for non-shitbull dogs.We must eradicate feral cats and only allow cats selected by responsible breeders to procreate. Then cats will be good.

>>5037514You just put it on him for 15 minutes a day until he stops being dramatic about it and forgetting how to walk. Its the same principle as harness training a cat. Eventually they give up on bitching and act normal with it you just gotta do short bursts for like a week.

Hey this may seem like a dumb question and sorry if it is but how can I tell if a cat is malnourished? I see this super friendly one on walks sometimes always in the same area hunting something. They always are super vocal and brush against me. And they don't look any worse or better between times I see them but I have noticed more matted fur between sightings still very little though. I brought treats and I know some cats will act like they've never been fed in months right after feeding them 10 minutes prior, but they would eat the 5 treats in the span of basically a second and that also worries me. I know they belong to someone at least once upon a time because they have a tattoo but the bugger can't sit still for more than half a second for me to check what it says so I can call the local humane society. >>5037835Buy a live trap and a can of fishCover the cage and line the bottom with natural material (do not interfere with the mechanism)It's your cat nowGo get it neuteredThe humane society will not respond to stray cat calls.I hear a heavy regimen melatonin and feliway help cats adapt to new households and life as an indoor cat. Some anons here use weak cannabis tinctures in their wet food for a permanent chill out effect.Cats don't have a place outside, killing native animals, messing with the balance. If a person did what their cat did they would go to jail. Does that mean I can strap a gun to a cat and have them kill my enemies? No. Its nonsense. get it?

>>5037835I live in an apartment complex, and the 4 2-story buildings are shaped like a U around the swimming pool and leasing office. One of my neighbors moved out and abandoned their cat. I liked the cat so I would give it food, and he had a really loud yowling voice. One day I got home from work, and I was exhausted, and passed out on the couch. I wake up to hear the cat absolutely screaming, I bolt upright, grab a handful of catfoot, and race out the door to see what his problem is. He's on the sidewalk near the bottom of my stairs, and as I get down there to check, I see three other neighbors half way to the cat with a handful of cat food, I looked at them, they looked at me, we looked at the cat, and just started laughing because this poor starving abandoned little stray had at least four sugar daddies in the neighborhood. In hindsight I wish I had just taken him in, he was a good cat, always friendly, and he would play with my cat through the window. One day he showed up, the side of his face was super swollen, but I had to go to work, and that was the last time I ever saw him. Couldn't really afford the vet bill, but I always regret not adopting him as soon as I knew his owner had bailed.
>>5038029There are no janitors on /an/ and basically no moderation. Once in a blue moon they might go through the report queue. Use feedback to complain about it honestly. Its a slow board, no reason it should be full of this much trash.

How many treats are okay to give a cat? I need to give mine a pill twice a day and these are the only things that actually work so far but idk if giving them so often is okay.
Must be so hard being a cat

>>5038317You can just shove the pill down his mouth without treat if you're worried. But I don't think a measly 2 treats a day is that much.
>>5038600Let her know she is not a bird.
Any anons here have experience with owning an exotic shorthair? Prospective first-time cat owner and love the breed but am very hesitant due to the seemingly common breathing/health issues. If I got one it’d be from a thoroughly vetted breeder and I wouldn’t be cheaping out as far as price goes, but I’m wondering just how relevant their health issues are. Anything to check for from a breeder to try and get one who will be the healthiest possible? I’ve heard to look for one with a more modest scrunching of the face that is more open and round rather than all squished up. Any other advice/insights would be very appreciated.
>>5038511I'm very sorry, anon. Try to keep in mind that at least she was cared for and had someone until the end. Did she give birth to another kitten before passing?
>>5038317If you give a cat a churu, they will gladly accept the bribe.
>>5038511sorry anon. thats really hard.
>>5038317Crunch the pill up into powder (if it isn't in a capsule you can just open), then put it into a dish with wet food, add a little bit of water and stir it all together until it has the consistency of a of a thick paste. Cat should gobble that up in one sitting and wont know the difference. Also try asking your vet if they can just give it to you in a syringe. Its a lot easier to just shove that in the cat's mouth and squirt it down the back of their throat than to try and force feed them a pill directly. I know I got a really nasty cut when I pried my cat's teeth open, and realized their back teeth are like scissors.

One way this would work is jeet tier feral cat lines being more dependent on natural light levels to modulate their hormones than well bred pet cats that were selected for having a good temperament indoors.

I have a ~16 year old cat with cancer, in her early years before I got her she was an indoor/outdoor cat but when I got her she switched to indoor only. She would sometimes beg at the door go out but if I ignored her she would eventually give it up. Recently though I let her go for a bit supervised by me. The only thing she did was roll around on the porch, sun herself and eat some grass (which she threw up about an hour later) and I took her in about 30 minutes later. Since then she has been screaming at the door non-stop. How do I break her of this again? I just meant it to be a one off treat for her.
>>5041006If they have cancer and might pass soon I think you should give them some more visits outside since they seem to like it.
>>5040785Love these dumb cross eyed idiots>>5040902Play with her and have run running around and catching toys on the regular. Though cats don't need much. Mine is 16 now and still goes feral when he's mad or wants to play.>>5041006You made your bed now lie in it.
There’s this cat from my neighbor that sometimes hangs around my place.. right now he’s here while the rain passes. So I just noticed a small lump on his left jaw, red (thought it was blood, but it’s not), a bit of hair missing around it, and a faint brown‑yellow dry spot you can only catch under my lamp (not pus, doesn’t look burst or anything). Could be some ointment his owner put on... or at least that’s what I’d like to think. No scratches, no wounds. Yesterday he stopped by for a bit, all energetic and asking for food, and I didn’t notice any lump… But today, after he came inside to get out of the rain, I saw it, and don't knowm, he seemed a little low‑energy at the same time.I think that lump looks bad., but rn he’s napping with his head on the lump like it’s nothing. What do you think it could be?I haven’t talked to my neighbor because I don’t talk to them. This cat drops by sometimes, and they might not even know he visits me. I think they neglect him btw. When he shows up, he’s fucking starving. Just asking out of curiosity... I think I’ve grown a bit attached

I have two brothers and they are absolutely best friends. They sleep in each other's arms, groom each other, constantly in the same room. Today I gave them each a dried muscle seagood treat each. the younger brother (who happens to be the alpha) picked his up in his mouth and didn't eat it but carried it around and was growling and hissing at his brother if he'd come close. I've never seen this kind of behaviour before. I think it was because they both needed baths yesterday morning (don't ask) so maybe tbe strong seafood scent overpowered the lesser scent of his brother (due to the bath) and he got a bit aggro thinking his brother was going to take it off of him? I know that this kind of behaviour is pretty normal with younger cats (they're around 6 months old) but it was upsetting to watch as they never fight and the alpha brother never bullies the other, despite being in charge.

>>5041529I miss my old cat, I toss and turn a lot when I sleep and he figured out that if he wedged himself in the small of my back I couldn't roll over on him, so every morning I'd wake up to a big fat purring hot water bottle right on the small of my back. My current cat likes to sleep on top of me, and I've woken up so many times with my hip or knee throbbing in pain because it's been over extended for the last couple hours. I figure he must have been the kitten that slept on top of the pile, because he sucks at cuddling.
>>5033893Cats are hard to shop for. It’s the “box is better than the toy” dilemma. Chasing laser pointer is solved by having a treat reward when she “catches” it (you get bored). Either just give it to her for doing it or sneak the treat out and point the laser onto it. With fishing rod toys you can attach whatever to the end after they break. Just get another line. Go with whatever they will chase. Can be literal cardboard at the end (use scissors to cut it into “feather” shapes or mouse shapes). Or cloth scraps. You don’t need to have approved Cat Toy (tm) shit around to make a cat toy. Cats dgaf you spent money.
>>5041642My cat has been batting around small tomatillos the past few days. Extremely cute to see her carrying them around in her mouth. She doesn't eat them so I dont mind.A cardboard box with some holes cut in for doors and windows is also a big hit. She likes to hide in her box until one of the dogs walks by and she'll attack their legs than quickly go back in the box to hide. It's hilarious.

I have a 1yo male maincoon. When I sit next to him and pet and scritch him he purrs really loudly and leans into the pet but then he still has to almost immediately get up and get away. He always wants to be around me but at a legs distance to where I can't touch him. Definitely won't sit in laps, but he's calm the first 2 minutes you pick him up then he slowly struggles. Is this normal? A breed standard maybe? Can I change this?

>>5038767R.i.p. this has become a very sad thread.
>>5033893My cat is currently addicted to these propeller shaped feather wands that spin around when you swing them. It's supposed to mimic birds so if your cat ever caught and ate a bird he'll love it.They break kind of easily though.
Dangle a string, and watch as the servile cat stumbles and wheezes to amuse youDo the same before a fish and he will glub glub glub glub
>>5041642Different cats prefer different kinds of toys as well. An important thing to remember is that variety and change is good. I have a little cardboard box full of cat toys. Little felt puff balls, plastic springs, mouse toys, etc. Whenever I go to the pet store I'll but a bunch more and just dump them in the box. My cat will go in there, pick out a toy, play with it, get bored or lose it, and then when I clean up my place, or just walking around I'll pick them up and throw them back in the box.
>>5042707My cat is obsessed with feather toys. I need to get one of these for him.
>>5033893My cats really love plastic bottle caps. I'm not sure if it's a safe toy. Cats never chew them, but I still worry about "what if". So, I've always put the caps away when they're tired of playing.
Can someone please tell me of a site or service where I can drop off a cat for a long term (like 3 months) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Search engine are just full of spam now and some of these people are asking for over a hundred dollars a night! for fucks sake I would have done this for free just a few years ago surely theres got to be someone in the world just willing to take care of a cat. Also I don't want one of those group kennels where they're all bunched up together just seems really inhumane.
do your cats also start purring and maybe even meowing in happiness when you just look at them?
big boy
Where's a good place to put litterboxes? I've tried placing one less than six feet from my computer and let me tell you, it's a great way to get me to get up to clean it but it feels like that defeats the point.
>>5043574Well I mean that entirely depends on how big your place is. I place mine near the front door. If you are cramped for space consider getting a enclosed box with a filter. Like I could sometimes forget to empty mine for a couple days but you couldn't smell it. Also litter that clumps well and has some masking smell.
look guys>>>/vg/538203664
>>5041326>>5041481They've been completely fine since then. I tested the theory of it being due to a "high value treat" and unsurprisingly when i got the dried muscles out again, the younger brother reacted the same way. I will probably just donate them to the local animal shelter as I don't want them to cause unnecessary conflict. Cats are such interesting animals - a hybrid of domesticated companion and wild, uncontrollable instinct. I love cats so much bros.
>>5043574I live in a 5 bedroom place and own 2 male cats. I have three boxes, two are in communal areas so they're in little wooden houses which insulates the smell and keeps them out of sight of guests. I also have one uncovered in my laundry. I always think the best place for boxes are as far away from where people will congregate as possible, while still being accessible to the cat. It also helps to try and spread them out across even distances, so cats go there instead of outside of the box (only really an issue if you have a large home, like mine)
How would you stop some dumb ass anxiety ridden cat from pissing all over your bed? He does it like once a month, more if I sleep through his warning meows before he does it.

>>5042664>Should I take her to the vet?The mouse? If it's only a face how do you know it's female?
I live on the third floor of a small apartment. A 1-month old calico kitten had been screaming all evening from our garage. I had had enough by midnight and went to fetch it. After a bit of struggle I managed to grab her by the back of her neck and take her back with me. Elevators are turned off at night here so I had to take the stairs. She screamed at the top of her lungs the entire way. I gave food and water, and a little blanket to sleep inside. She calmed down a bit but was still noisy. After seeing that she still won't stop meowing I took her back to the garage and left her there. That was thirty minutes ago. She has gone back to screaming. What would you do in this situation? I can't keep her because my tortoiseshell cat is unfriendly and might harm her.
