>you drop off a grizzly bear in Sub-Saharan Africa
How well does it do by itself?
>>
>>5040489
i imagine it dies of heat exhaustion after a period of time
>>
Day 1. Defeats an elephant (bull).
>>
>>5040489
I think a pride of lions could take it

There used to be brown bears in North Africa, they went extinct, but it's still a proven good habitat. In the mountains in east Africa it could survive pretty well, plenty of fruit and edible roots, perfect temperature year-round, predators to steal carrion from... It could also share a niche with mountain gorillas in central Africa, their diets aren't too different. Anywhere else would be too hot and/or couldn't provide enough food. I suppose there's a reason why bears that live in tropical areas are so small.

Would be unbearable for then

not enough food to sustain himself id imagine

Assuming it didn’t die from the heat it’d probably have to scrape by scavenging on leftovers from the smaller social predators. A pride of lions or even a large pack of hyenas might try eat one. A large nile crocodile definitely would

>in Sub-Saharan Africa
Where in Sub-Saharan Africa, exactly? SSA is huge with many different climates.

Not great. Too hot and too wide open. They can run at a decent clip for short distances, but they need forests and mountains to stalk and drive pray into/out of, but in terms of fighting, it could easily kill anything but a large water buffalo, rhino and elephant. A lion would be a piece of cake.

Grizzlies would ball out in Lesotho. They should get on that and introduce a breeding population there.
>>
The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, known for housing one of the world's highest densities of lions, who are presumed to be among the largest felines in the world due to their stable environment and abundant prey.

drop here among the biggest boys

succesful at first but would eventually shrink into a bearlet that feeds mostly on fruits and insects
