Guy with Indian, Hindu wife here.
Indians do not worship cows. Cows are sacred as symbols of motherhood and more valuable in South Asia for the other services they provide, such as milk, which is made in butter and cheese, manure to grow crops and yes, more cows. Reverence for cows is reverence for motherhood and life.
That's how it was explained to me.
I'm not Indian or Hindu so this ain't really my wheelhouse but if you really want an answer and aren't just shitposting, I can ask the missus for a clearer answer.
>>
>>5041573
Except for the part where, yknow, indians DO worship cows. It's a dalits shiva cult thing right? The loss of vedic monotheism was a tragedy.

Can you ask her to check my Karma score?
Shit posting aside, there's an Indian guy who runs the register at a gas station I frequent, and he's got a little deity with an elephant's head above the mantle of the door as you exit. "Deity" probably isn't the right word though, I remember referring to elephant-man as such and he was quick to correct me and tell me his name (which I forgot) and that if I ever find myself reincarnating I should look for this elephant guy to make my way back to Earth. I don't really have any questions specifically, I guess if cows are symbolic of the reverence of motherhood do elephants have similar lore?

It's only in Indian Hinduism. And yes, Indians do consider the cow as a mother. It's called "Gau Maata." But they also worship the cow and what it produces - milk, dung, and urine. The politicians and even scientists there keep talking about how cow urine is a cure-all medicine. They use cow dung as fuel, as a "coolant" on walls in their homes, and even food (see: panchagavya).

the squid eyes are special to humans because the way their photoreceptors are oriented leaves no blind spot like ours do and mantis shrinp see "better" in that they can can receive a wider spectrum of colours than us

Ganesh. His holy day was last week and I went with the missus to the temple. I didn't understand anything about it all and had to eat these diabetes grenades called modak, which are these little dumplings full of coconut gratings and brown sugar. All Indian desserts are grainy-textured and horrifically sweet. I hate them so much.
>>5041619
Wrong.
I had a Thai Buddhist roommate OUAT who didn't eat beef for the same reason. Buddhism is an outshoot of Hinduism and one of the few things I know about Hinduism is that the Buddha is considered one the avatars of Vishnu by Hindus and many view Buddhists as a type of Hindu.

yep, if you only consider visual acuity & image resolution in daylight the only animals that surpass humans are some birds of prey. Our vision is that good.
>>5041769
>Varies greatly depending on the animal. I hear squid have the best eyes in the whole of the animal kingdom.
cephalopods are all color blind but can perceive polarized light. And cephalopods are good at still seeing in low light conditions but see rather low resolution images compared to humans. And they also have tiny primitive brains that can't perform complex image processing like ours can.
The Colossal Squid for example has the largest eyes in the animal kingdom but posses a brain that weighs only 100 grams despite weighing half a ton. The large eyes are probably for detecting Sperm whales in the deep black ocean.
>>5041778
>mantis shrinp see "better" in that they can can receive a wider spectrum of colours than us

Mantis shrimp aren't even better at that. Once again they also have atrocious image resolution compared to humans.
I remember seeing a simulated vision for Mantis shrimp and it was a blurry mess.
Mantis shrimp tried to overcome small brains by developing very complicated eyes instead. But they still come up short.

" Since IT cortex has millions of color-tuned cells, they can sample the spectrum much more finely than the 12 mantis shrimp photoreceptors, so interval decoding could simultaneously provide much better color identification and discrimination compared to mantis shrimp, resolving the paradox that mantis shrimp have poorer color vision than humans despite having more photoreceptor classes."
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4441025/

"Colour blindness test surprisingly reveals that mantis shrimp have poor colour sense.
The study from UQ’s Queensland Brain Institute, crushes the illusion that complex eyes with more colour channels mean better colour vision."

its due to the ancient indo-european conquest of india
>cattle herding pastoralists conquer india
>beef eating, milk drinking pastoralists are bigger and stronger than grainmaxxed jeet farmers
>jeets connect the cows with the seemingly superhuman powers of the conquerors, assume the cows are magical
>jeets try to fuck with the cows, take them, steal milk, that sort of thing
>conquerors tell them to leave the cows alone because the cows are the most valuable things the indo-europeans own
>this develops into a taboo against harming cows in any way
so you have a group of people that view cows as a source of supernatural power and bunch of religious restrictions surrounding them. let that ferment for a thousand years and you have hinduism's view on cows
>>
>>

Except the concepts of dharma, karma, samsara, moksha/nirvana, the trimurthi and so on. The only rejections are of the authority of the Vedas and of individualism (atman v the Buddhist struggle for anatman IE loss of self). Buddhism seeks personal destruction within a Hindu framework.

This makes a lot of sense.
If it wasn't indoeuropeans then the other reasonable hypothesis is that cows were very valuable but low iq jeets would keep eating them instead of raising a herd and milking them so they had to make it taboo to eat them.

The funny thing is, there aren't
There's an obsessed schizo anon who pretends to hate cats and also pretends to be a jew to drive the anti-dog schizo crazy
The rest is just what /an/ actually thinks, which is entirely the natural consequence of retards letting their cats outside and pretending they are hyper-intelligent apex predators
