Big cats confirmed is the south
>>
Phantom big cats are a proven hoax. This is just another one.
>>

◯ How rare is it to spot a black panther?
>>
>>5051524
u tell me
>>
>>5051524
pretty rare. the only person I know 3rd hand to see ( and photograph ) one was my friends grandma in vermont. That was back in the 1990s though.
>>
>>5051506
That looks to be a leopard, rather than a jaguar.
So someone has likely released a pet they were too scared to handle anymore. Or lost a pet they didn't keep properly confined.
>>
>>5051506
Seeing big cats loose in the south is nothing new, there was a tiger wandering around Houston a while ago. Still all the boomers who took a grainy photo of a feral cat and called it a panther will feel vindicated
>>
>>5051506
Definitely a zoo escapee. Or maybe from some rich persons private menagerie.

>That looks to be a leopard, rather than a jaguar.
How can you tell? It does appear to have a long tail, but is that enough? are there any other clues?
>>
>>5051510

yeah, more likely it's some kind of native ancestral spirit guardian.
>>
>>5051788
No it isn't, paleoschizo.
>>
>>5051506
They absolutely do because I've absolutely seen one in person in SC
Now whether or not it was an actual panther or just a melanistic mountain lion, I cannot tell you.
>>
>>5051751
The long tail is usually enough, but jaguars are way bulkier
>>
>>5051573
What a faggy post
>>
>>5051751
Definitely the tail's holding position. Jags don't curl theirs quite so strongly and theirs is way stumpier, like half that length.

>>5051895
They say that pumas don't have the genetic markers to allow for melanism.
But a melanistic lynx was caught on film for the first time. Maybe they're wrong. A black puma would be so much more impressive looking than a black leopard or jaguar.
>>
>>5051930
Found the vindicated southern boomer
>>
>>5051506
"Melanocytic" critters happen pretty often in Nature and "Black Panthers" are nothing new. This does look like an escapee from a private collection/zoo though. Florida Panthers in the SE virtually never do this and neither do "Mountain Lions" out West. Mostly jaguars, and leopards.

Somehow that seems like much greater cause for concern than a black panther
>>
>>5051506
This exact image has been posted on facebook before with different captions. Whether the original is real or not idk but this one is fake
>>
>>5051949
Just remember if you ever come face to face with a big cat, pretty much the same rules apply as all felines
Don't run and act like prey
Look at it and slowly blink, then act uninterested while maintaining a confident posture
You will both most likely go about your business
Unless he really hangry then act like you are the most terrifying monster on earth but dont put him in a position where he can't escape
>>
>>5051949
That is fucking horrifying. With a leopard i see a healthy adult male being able to defend themselves but a fucking tiger? no way
>>
>>5051534
yea my nephew's great great grandfather's neighbor also ended up spotting a wild albino elephant in kentucky and got a snap on his kodak
dipshit

There's a cougar species native to Florida. It's highly endangered, but nobody disputes its existence. It's probably just a melanistic Florida panther, it looks way too small to fit the black panther legends from out west.
>>

Kool
>>
>>5054783
We're not talking about the florida panther, we're talking about your average everyday catamount and painter that marches up and down appalachia all the time but that the government covers up, presumably so businesses can operate more freely.
>>
>>5054783
OP pic looks nothing like a cougar

You're retarded.
I don't know or really care why they deny the existence of some animals in areas, but it's undeniable that they do.
