It's crazy to me how we have made up words like 'neutering' or 'spaying' or 'desexing' or 'fixing' just to dance around the real word for what we do to our pets which would be castration. i know that it's not good to just have dogs running around creating mutt puppies everywhere but i think it's morally wrong to get your dog castrated and there's no way around that. they are living beings, not our slaves.

Intact large dogs are healthier than neutered large dogs. The hormones are used to regulate bone/joint health and suppress certain non-heritable cancers. Issues associated with the gonads are heritable and likely related to breeding for unnaturally high fertility. This does not apply to small dogs or cats because there is less stress on their skeleton and immune system. Small dogs and cats do not benefit from their gonads at all. They are also dumber and harder (small dogs) or impossible (cats) to train out of behaviors like marking and dominance aggression. The exceptions are daschunds and bassets, because of the added stress their dysgenic and abusive breed standards put on their joints.
