There's a certain amount of irony in cutting down thousands of acers of public forest on order to install solar farms...
>>
i hate this so much
i would unironically rather have a nuclear plant in my back yard
>>
>>5052715
i would rather we dont waste more than half our land on animal feed and pasture
>>
>>5052717
Thats what you get when your economy is a ponzi scheme.
>>
>>5052717
>grazing animals bad
???
>>
>>5052714
This is 100% going raise electric bills even higher and not be functional because DTE is running on insane levels of incompetence right now.
>>
>>5052721
Thats the whole point. A select few people involved in this product will get rich, the public will lose more state forest, electricity prices will go up, but it's justified because "it's saving the planet and it's green."
>>
>>5052714
"""Solar Farms""" and """Data Centers""" are the new Carpet Bagging land grab schemes. They do it to snatch up prime Real Estate, get gub'ment subsidies to build ugly, filthy eyesores, that drives DOWN the price of the previously picturesque farm land and forces many to sell, willingly or not. Once they've got the land, they sell the subsidized juice to the big cities at a premium while the locals get nothing. It's not different than an oil company pumping up the crude and leaving town.

Best of all when you get the inevitable bad weather, the panels are destroyed releasing heavy metals into the soil! Oh, and the panels and other tech will need constant "upgrades" every few years to be "efficient", so more gibs, more waste, etc.....

They should be putting panels on top of every rooftop and parking lot in every city and this would be a total non-issue.

This also just makes more people more dependent on a less reliable grid. Solar is cheap now. You can set up your own system at home very easily and actually make a difference.
>>
>>5052717

Found the Globo-homo who thinks food security is bad. LOL!

America is CHOKING on trees. We have waaaaay too many and 1/2 are invasive.

There are so many trees out West that they're literally sucking up all the water before it can get to the streams and rivers. These are some of the largest trees in the world and can hold thousands of gallons of water in each trunk, times millions of trunks. Tons of them are dead too, soo they just become fuel for the massive forest fires that the Westoids are too dumb to prevent with prescribed burns.

Get your own panels. Clear some land and burn it regularly. You'll have 10x the wildlife you ever had before
>>
>>5052941
>>
good. That forest is useless. I hope the company building the turbines can evict a few toothless rurals
>>
>>5052717
you would rather that land be used for data centers and inefficient power generation?
>>
>>5052720
Yes. Animals release a lot of methane and land clearance is bad.
>>
>>5052720
>grazing animals
If only. Here it's mostly animals cramped on dirt and their food is grown next door by spraying shit everywhere.
At least smaller grazing aimals would also fit perfectly beneath not to tightly packed solar parks and in not to tightly packed forests.
>>
Ahhh yes it's another "rightoids suddenly extremely concerned about environment when non-fossil fuel energy alternatives are explored" epsiode! Love these ones! The thread is already filled with strawmen and bad faith arguing.
>>
>>5053240
>The thread is already filled with strawmen and bad faith arguing.

So that's why you decided to add even more?
>>
>>5053243
>noooooooooo stop pointing out my disingenuous arguments! y-you're the disingenuous one!
Lol
>>
>>5053240
nuclear was recommended in the first reply
>>
>>5053293
And that's good, but realistically nuclear is not happening until every boomer/gen Xer are in the ground. They are completely pozzed after decades of "NUCLEAR BAD AND SCAWWY" brainwashing from the oil companies. That doesn't mean we let perfect be the enemy of good enough and just sit on our thumbs. Solar/wind aren't without their flaws, but they are leagues better than hydrocarbons and coal.
>>
>>5053318
>they are leagues better than hydrocarbons and coal
lmao no
theyre window dressing at best
>>
>>5053351
Hang yourself oil shill. I will not ingest the air pollution.
>>
>>5052715
Better it's in your backyard so if there's a meltdown you're immediately vaporised rather than slowly wasting away from radiation sickness
>>
have you seen a state forest in michigan? they're mostly young and just a thicket of bullshit.
>>
>>5053358
you are like a little baby
>>
>>5053389
most forests east of the mississippi are. there's prob small patches of old growth somewhere in the northeast, maybe, and that's it

there are no technological solutions to technological problems
>>
>>5053240
No, I just find it funny when environmentalists freak out over things they advocated for. Like when we got rid of paper bags for plastic ones to save the trees.
>>
>>5052714
>thousands of acers
Unintentional, yet still accurate "heh".
>>
>>5052714
Go look at the pics of the massive "Solar Farm" in Texas that got hit by a massive hail storm. Acres and acres of panels destroyed in an instant, releasing heavy metal toxins into the soil forever, all of which had to be removed and buried in a landfill, thereby releasing even more toxins into the soil forever. Oh, and the taxpayers get to bail it out, b/c they have no other option. Almost like they planned it that way......almost. "Crude", but effective. "Crude"......oil.......solar.......get it?
>>
every time I see libshits like
>>5053240
>>5053318
>>5053358
I initially assume they are trolling but these people and vegans are obviously real. It's incredible. Do they not realize how overtly retarded they are?
>I want to own a car living in kansas
>GOOD JOB BIG OIL, REEEEEEEEEEEE
How do these people exist?
>>
>>5052941
>t.Lumberjacking shill
>>
>>5052714
People from michigan are braindead so that tracks
>>5053368
Every time
The dangers of nuclear power have vastly overstated
>>
>>5053468
"I'm a lumberjack, and that's OK! I works all night and I sleeps all day!"
>>
>>5053318
you wouldnt be able to have solar and wind without hydrocarbons, you fucking retard; you have to use oil to make plastic to make solar/wind energy, why would you do that when you can just go from oil to energy and skip the entire plastic manufacturing process, and that doesnt even take into account how fossil fuels are their own batteries, because it you only burn them when you need them and they dont "lose energy" like actual batteries do which is how you have store the limited production of solar and wind
>brainwashing from the oil companies.
that was from communists, i mean hippies, ironic really, them being the voice of the establishment
>>
>>5053587
>the voice of the establishment
Lol, hippies were unironically counter-culture back in the 60s/70s, my dear zoom zoom.
>>
>>5053599
It's a lot of the same people they just change their tune to get votes don't forgot joe "racial jungle" "blacks are super predators" "immigrants are criminals" biden.
>>
>>5053599
and oil is the establishment, you double retard zoomer
>>
>>5053701
>and oil is the establishment
Yeah and? Tell that to this incel that called hippies the "voice of the establishment"
>>
>>5053453
>>I want to own a car living in kansas
the funny thing is owning a car is mandatory for 99.99% of Americans because of shitty urban planning
>>
>>5053749
Don't even bother reasoning with sharts. Any deviation from what they grew up with they're conditioned to call communism.
>>
>>5052717
>Native Americans burning down forests to create grasslands for bison? Ingenious!
>You being allowed to build pastures for cattle? UM EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE ENVIROMENT?
>>
>>5052714
they need to do this because you own a dog
>>
>>5053737
yeah, and they did the work for the establishment thats why its ironic, triple retard
>>
>>5053749
It's manditory because of a certain dangerous parasite that thrives in places of limited mobility and destroys property values where it settles. There's plenty of "gentrified" places with modern infrastructure that supports non-automotive traffic but it usually has to be maintained by a vigilant police state or the parasites come back.
>>
>>5052714
Not if your main reason for pursuing solar is economic
>>
>>5052714
I heard Helios One is shutting down. Someone didn't get the memo.
>>
>>5052714
It's not really ironic. The point of renewable energies is to have sustainable energy for humans, not to be environmentally friendly. A lot of people just kind of forgot recently that we are going to run out of fossil fuels in under 100 years( assuming we don't start using even more energy, which we most likely will with the explosion of AI and population increases.) Even retard climate change denialists recognize this reality, and are preparing for it.
>>
>>5054048
>A lot of people just kind of forgot recently that we are going to run out of fossil fuels in under 100 years
Based let the useless eaters die
>>
>>5053793
>Comparing the america of hundreds of years ago which was mostly untouched to today's america which is ravaged
>>
>>5054048
>just kind of forgot recently that we are going to run out of fossil fuels in under 100 years
This is fucking retarded and clearly bullshit
>>
>>5054111
>Source: my ass
>>
>>5054111
its not that we are going to run out of oil, its that the amount of energy required to exact oil is more than what it produces. this wouldve happened two decade ago but we found better technology to exact shale to make it cost effective, we could do this with plastic back into petrol but its not cost effective
>>
>>5054337
and we're using less and less thanks to the electric everything. Only cars and lawn equipment use gas, so if you can cut out the landscape market, motorcycles and just a small percent of cars, that's enough to make oil tumble. It's already cheaper than organic orange juice per gallon where I live. Kids don't even want cars anymore, much less dirtbikes, go karts, or anything else fun that uses gas. It will always have uses, but we've hit peak oil at this point.
>>
>>5054374
>and we're using less and less thanks to the electric everything.
yeah thats not how that works, sure you have an electric car but you have to charge that which is supplied by fossil fuels still, wind and solar are unsustainable for the demands of the current population
>>
>>5052714
love to see it, going to keep voting for this. I'm trans btw if that matters
>>5054387
we're gonna build way more wind and solar dwbi
>>5053781
when americans hear walkable cities or whatever what we imagine is the cities we already have + driving a car is punished
which would be a strawman if it weren't probably what we'd get. the kind of leftoid administrators who go for that sort of thing are kind of dumb
>>5052715
>>5053318
the problem was ALARA and with chevron gone(?) and tech behemoths foaming at the mouth for energy its days might just be numbered. hold on brother
>>
>>5054401
>we're gonna build way more wind and solar dwbi
not without oil, all that stuff requires plastic and rare earth metals and only gives a fraction of the power, and degrades into unrecyclable products, and thats not even getting into the environment impact of those things, which is bad

The absolute state of mutts, imagine feeding cows fucking corn and basedbeans when grass is not only easier but cheaper and better. I'm convinced at this point that it's not even about money, it's about ensuring every single food item is low quality and unhealthy.
>>
>>5052722
Ummm sweaty you need to pay more taxes to appease the weather god
>>
>>5052714
Always remember that it's all just a new age religion. And as it's a religion, it doesn't need to be internally consistent, you just need to adhere to the dogma.
>>
>>5054412
but they dont pay for themselves
