How do you cope?Knowing what animals are like, knowing people are animals, knowing they will never stop?I will not debate whether the smile of every baby is worth it. 85% of this planet has been turned into human stromatolites. Species are being selected right now for human symbiosis. Neutral species go extinct without exception. This is natural fact.At the end of the day, Ecology is part of the entertainment industry. People who genuinely believe in conservation are parasitic to humans. Those who exploit the land to develop it are symbiotic and rewarded. So how do you manage to go about your day knowing the thing you love most about existing will disappear forever, and that your life is outcompeted? Are you going to teach your children about conservation and have them suffer by being preyed on by the human world?
>>5053042Wrong. The future of humans is the future of animals. We will being our beasts with us to the stars.
>>5053042My life is better without parrots screeching at 5am
>>5053079I have amazon parrots chatting up when I get up at 6am and when I go home at 5pm. It's one of the best joys of life. I miss the sunday mornings of birdwatching in my street when cars weren't using it as a fucking highway. I could count up to 10 species at the same time.
>>5053042>How do you cope?i dont. this happened 5 times before and biodiversity rebounded almost immediately, geologically speaking. humans will learn to coexist or humans will die. nature won the moment the first cell split off another cell, resisting her is guaranteed extinction. cope for humanity, pretend we'll save ourselves in time.also i feed the birdies :D
>>5053208humans will not die. In fact the reason for this ordeal is that humans don't die and don't plan on dying, don't plan on living less nuisance lives or allow their fellow humans to live with integrity.
Eventually we'll realize that population and breeding control are necessary and implement it. Our breeding practices work for neither natural nor capitalistic/anthropocentric reasons. There are too many of us to exist in balance with nature because we have actively nullified every physical selective pressure we ever had to the point that nothing is a threat to our species as a whole. There are too many of us for our current economical models to work. Overbreeding with no selective pressure allows for losers and scum-feeders to thrive. There aren't enough jobs to go around, so they're incentivized to become deadbeat leeches and parasites. They generate SOME money now, but before long it will become clear to corporations that having this many people hurts profits more than it helps, and they'll lobby for breeding control. Which really is a good thing. Nature will always survive, we may not.
>>5053092You're a thirdie, though, noise and chaos are your natural state of being.
>conservation bad, exploitation goodreally trying to doompost people to give up and consume for our corporate overlords, huh?
>>5053806There is no overpopulation among natives of western and far eastern countries. None. They actually arent having enough kids for fiat/debt economies to work.
>>5053845Oh I agree absolutely. The natives aren't the problem.
>>5053075Fuck off elon
>>5053079You're supposed to live elsewhere without parrots. Humans don't own the entire planet
>>5053831You're the exact type of person op is warning about
>>505321810 years old brain take
>>5053806It doesn't work for anthropocentric reasons, but it does work for capitalistic, because the idea behind capitalism is to reserve a portion of the price as reward, thus the larger the scale, the larger the reward. The burden of cost is passed fully on the buyer, thus distribution of the reward is not possible. In a human lifetime, there is no incentive to use all of the reward. It will just keep piling up.
>>5053833I wish conservation were possible but the state of affairs is, It's not.At this point i think efforts should be directed to domesticate as many exotic species as possible, and introduce fresh wild genes as long as the species still exist in the wild. At least their genes will go on a while longer that way. It's completely pointless to try to return animals to nature if there's no stopping the destruction of nature. Governments WILL always act on Muh housing problem, muh GDP dick measuring, muh trickle down economics to solve poverty. People who run for governments are experts in business, the ones who win elections are experts in merchandising. You will never find a scientist as president. It's always someone who plans to "navigate the political climate of the region".
Conservation works fine and the threats to it are finite1: oil2: india3: china4: africaThere are not enough humans doing enough to destroy the earth beyond that. >>5054146That is not how capitalism works. That is how the talmud works.
