Modern photography is just taking a shitton of photos with good gear and picking out the luckiest shot, or stitching a few together if you want to go the extra mile. That's for static stuff, if you want to take pictures of animals or worse insects, you're almost always better off recording them and fishing out a good frame.

A couple years ago at a high school reunion, I found an old buddy had become a professional photographer of weddings and corporate events. Asked him for recs since I (a hobbyist at best) was in the market for something and I couldn't decide if I wanted to go Canon or Nikon again. He laughed and said "get a Sony, they're a fraction of the price and I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference". And he was right. This isn't the 20th century anymore where Nikon was the only serious game in town. Arguing over camera brand and stats now is best left for the gear queer bugmen that use their equipment once/year, and that's if they even own anything.
