Cats weren't always this stupid. I actually find it quite sad, its like watching a disabled child try to do something out of their scope.Since cats were first domesticated, their brains have shrunk by 20%. the average cat is obese, incapable of seriously defending itself, and incapable of hunting or even searching for things. A complete bastardization of what they once were, and what their biological cousins still are.I have cats, and they like me and I like them, but sometimes I just feel bad. like when I throw a piece of chicken 2 inches to their left and they cant seem to find it.I hope cats can be changed for the better like pugs can, both being victims of human breeding practices.Has anyone else thought or felt this?
>>5053895Cats were always this stupid. What they weren’t was inside, because neutering wasn’t as safe, cheap, or common and unfixed cats piss everywhere and cant be easily trained out of it like dogs, so people perceived them based on their demeanor and appearance much like how owls were assumed to be thoughtful and observant. They evolved to subsist on an infinite supply of fattened, sickened, and domesticated animals surrounding human settlements and avoid getting killed by humans by acting like juveniles forever. The fact that they are an ecological problem is somewhere between a numbers game, severe habitat disruption, and the staggering incompetence of australian wildlife.>graze over the outback>shoot all the dingos>birds left without hiding places get eaten by a gorillion abandoned cats>birds are also literally retarded and make pigeons look like gigachads>HOW COULD CATS DO THIS TO THE ENVIRONMENT? -australian ranchers
>>5053895you mean to tell methat animals that have relied on humans for something like 10000 years are no longer capable of functioning without humans ??????this is groundbreaking research anon, thank you for your service
>>5053895cats don't really need intelligence because of their powerful instincts and agility
>>5053895cats have been this stupid for at least the last 50 years.
>>5054132did you mean 50,000even wild cats aren’t that smart
>>5054171It's surprising. One would think being a predator that wild cats would be pretty smart, but they're fucking dumbasses compared to most large land predators.
Shhhh were sleeping
>>5054175the idea that a predator is necessarily smart is rooted in bias towards dogs, humans, dolphins etc being model predators. many predators, like bears, orca, and tigers are actually among the dumbest of their branch of the evolutionary tree. others like hyenas, wolves, and dolphins are unusually smart. there is no hard and fast rule. superior intelligence is not the sole path to supremacy - it only needs to be sufficient.
My cat asks me to turn on the heat or to lift her up the cabinet. At the same time she swats at cables thinking they are snakes. Some cats are smart and dumb at the same time.
>>5054190Sounds like rabbit iqCats are carnivorous rabbits
>>5053895The moral and physical degeneration of cats is a well documented historical fact
>>5054196They both space out too lol.
>>5053911Agree with your post, but>avoid getting killed by humans by acting like juveniles foreverThat's kinda what domesticated animals are. Dog dads are deadbeats in comparison to wolves.
>>5054278>"but dogs" out of nowhererent free
my cats are very smart. they learned that they could put up their own tails relatively early on.
>>5054181Looks like your cats are not the only ones with shrinking brains
>>5054175Probably shouldn't be because as a group they are easily the best at being predators outside intelligence. We need it because a lot of us are licking rock slime and rotted carcasses without it
>>5054181Why does this look like the inside of a dumpster?Imagine the smell
