My 3 year old cat hasn't been eating for the last few days and napping more. I took her to the vet this morning and he said she has jaundice. They took x-rays and blood work. I'm worried there's something seriously wrong with her.

Has anyone here had experience with this in their cats? My other two older cats are doing well. So this is a shock for me.

Yeah, not glittery as the other bengal but way more friendly. Loved to sit on top of doors and climb in the closet to dive bomb me in the night when I slept. My wife got him for free when he had his balls and he was a hellion, pissing and screaming everywhere. Gave him the snip and he turned into an A+ lad.

I've noticed that most peoples bengals are lithe, somewhat like small servals, but my boy was always stocky, even when he was a skinny stray. He's purebred bengal according to vet so wonder if there are sub breeds of bengals.

The other bengal, Balentine, is fat as fuck. Big jiggly chicken. Same colouring as yours, funny enough.

Is this a cat general? Fuck it, I'm in crisis regarding owning a cat. I have 3 house cats, 1 male, and the rest are females, all 2 years old. Yesterday, a stray male cat sneaked into my house and started brawling with my male cat, and he/they both ended up shitting all over my kitchen before I noticed it and got that stray male cat out of the house. Is this a normal behaviour for cats to shit all over the place when they fight? I truly lost any interest in cats after what had happened; it was a mess...I don't even know what's clean or not anymore.
>>
Maybe someone here can help me. I adopted a bonded pair of sisters a couple weeks ago - a tuxedo and a calico. They've been comfortable and friendly with each other the whole time but the calico has been fighting the tux since yesterday. The calico is mostly relaxed but it seems like it's really stressing out the tux. She's been growling and hissing when the calico starts it up again, but I haven't been seeing the same behavior from the calico even though she's been aggressive, stalking and instigating. My apartment is essentially one big room and while I could leave one in a closet or my bathroom, I really don't want to have to. For the most part they've been chilling in different corners of the apartment since then and while they've been near each other without issue several times since yesterday, I'm still a bit afraid to leave them alone in case the calico starts going at the tux again.
Any advice?

Yes, that's totally normal and it's one of many reasons people need to keep their cats contained. Animals fight. Animals attack random shit for no reason. They're like illiterate, non-verbal hobos.

You need to quarantine the male cat that got attacked and get him tested for FIV. Right fucking meow.

If your male already bit or scratched any of the other cats due to stress, or any other cats got hurt, also test them for FIV.

Also, keep an eye out for FIP. TNR faggots, "community" (feral) cat feeders, and outdoor cat fucktards are largely responsible for the spread of these two debilitating diseases (FIV/FIP).

NTA but I had it happen once. Door from the basement to the garage has to be shut pretty hard or it doesn't latch but my mom forgot to close it tight. Then she didn't close the garage door after driving out.
Only caught a glimpse of the stray after hearing one of mine defending his turf which led me to the open door.

Fuck. My male cat who got into the fight also have this 2 inches long scratch on his shoulder blade.
Thanks for the info and warning, the cat seems fine as he wants me to pick him up as soon as he saw me after the incident but he was covered in poops, so I had to take him to the shower first. Hopefully I didn't just increase his stress.

I need help. I was bitten by my cat a couple day ago which caused three small wounds around my palm. They have healed apart from what resembles a skin abscess. There's a pocket of pus surrounded by a red area but it's not swollen. My head also feels lightheaded.
I already disinfected it and wrapped a bandage around it but I don't know if that's good enough. I cannot visit a hospital right now. Has anyone dealt with this before?

This week has been hell. My cat's had diarrhea for seven days straight and all the test results so far don't seem to indicate an obvious cause. Vet suggested screening for GI cancers next if it doesn't resolve itself, but it seems like it's gotten better finally. The other main option being considered is pancreatitis. He hasn't shit once today which I was told might be the case for a few days after his diarrhea resolves since his intestines will be completely clear.

But now he hasn't urinated more than once in about 24h either. Throughout this whole week he was urinating normal, his eating and drinking have remained normal, and he's had urine testing done during all this that hasn't indicated much but mild dehydration. And he received fluids on Saturday. What the fuck man. I just want my cat to be okay.
>>
Is it normal for cats to sleep in shifts and stare at the window in shifts?
I'm cat sitting for my grandma while she's on a trip, and her cats take turns napping at the bedroom cat tower while the other is by the living room window.

One of mine, when she gets a little cold or something stresses her out, sometimes stops eating. I have to slowly coax her back into eating by giving her only her absolute favorite treats, sometimes also force/syringe feeding her food and water. After a few days she starts eating a bit by herself and recovers. It's very dangerous for cats to go that long without food - it's what's caused the jaundice. If your vet hasn't told you to get food in her asap anyway you can, you should get a new vet. >>5054922
Get a bunch of cat trees and/or shelves, so they have plenty of places to get away from each other. Lots of play time with them - for the aggressor to exert the hunting instinct on toys instead of her sister, and for the victim to gain confidence.

>He has a low grade acquired heart murmur whose cause has not yet been determined
>Received subcutaneous fluids the last time he was at the vet
>Was prescribed Visbiome probiotics the first time we went to the vet for this
Only results that came back with anything of note are a slightly lower WBC count, presumed to be from stress, slightly elevated amalase level, presumed to be from inflammation, and mild dehydration. I should have the last of the results back tomorrow but he seems to be doing better. His urination is closer to normal as of today and he had his first regular bowel movement today as well. To my surprise the vets weren't concerned about the urination when I spoke to them in the morning, so long as he was still going at least once a day and eating and drinking they said it was fine given the circumstances. I think the subcutaneous fluids he received might have affected things.

Follow-up plan right now is to retest bloodwork in a month, though I'm not really sure what they're looking for since most of it was normal. It was also suggested he get a complete abdominal ultrasound to screen for GI cancers if he didn't improve and I plan to ask if it's still worth it. One vet also suggested the possibility of testing for FeLV or FIV if things didn't improve given the WBC, but this seems less worth it to me since he's not high risk.
>>
>>5056858
Oh and they also felt to check for any indications of obstruction but didn't perform testing to completely rule it out as they didn't feel like it was worth it at that point.

Her bloodwork came back negative for all the fatal stuff. My vet thinks she is just dealing with a feline corona virus flare up. I've been giving her the oral antibiotics for 6 days and she'd eat small amounts of food everyday.
Today I went back and he gave her an injection of Convenia and DepoMedrol. She seems to be back to eating again but I'll wait and see until the steroid weakens. Hopefully it's not FIP.
>>
Hate to vetpost but I'm pacing around my room right now.
The little satan in pic appeared in my backyard yesterday. Initially I was elated and fed him but long story short is he's missing an eye, and he probably lost it from herpes. Sniffling and breathing heavily, I think his other eye is a bit cloudy as well.
I know he's become my problem now and I'm willing to fork however much in steroids or whatever to save his other eye, even stitches to shut his eye socket but then what. There are other cats around here everyone is gonna catch it, I can't isolate him or them.
I don't even know what my question is, just asking for advice generally. Will any shelter take him?
For the record, he's extremely trusting of people and keeps meowing when nobody is around, I think he's an abandoned pet.

First find out if that's actually what's going on from the vet, Anon. Then after, and get this guy taken care of. He's yours now, so it's up to you. After that, try to get the other cats taken care of with your neighbors, charity, or shelter. I've had neighbors split vet bills for feral colonies before, including getting them spayed and neutered, and then they've gone on to adopt the more social ones.

Alright, vet gave him an antibiotic shot and told me to isolate him for now. We'll wait a week and if the others don't show any symptoms we'll vaccinate them for herpes.
I have a large cage with chicken wire for hens with newborn chicks during the summer, I'll put him there for now, hopefully it doesn't stress him enough to supercharge the herpes, idk how that works.
His good eye seems fine, I may have misjudged it because I used a bright light after dark to check it, still she gave me some drops for it.
I mean I can take care of him long term it's not like outdoors cats need a lot of effort, I'm just afraid of herpes flare ups and being a potential infection site for anything that passes through, hopefully the vaccine is enough for the regulars.
>>5057327
We're talking about 2-3 outdoors cats including one that's mine that just come in contact often. They're being "taken care of" but idk if I can intrude on how much they care for them. At least they won't say no the shot if I pay for it.

>They're being "taken care of" but idk if I can intrude on how much they care for them. At least they won't say no the shot if I pay for it.
First get your vet's assessment of this guy. And on whether whatever caused it is communicable to the other cats. Make sure you know that first. Pay his vet bill in full, he's your responsibility alone. Then offer to split the necessary vet bills equally between any neighbors interested to prevent it in the other cats if it's necessary, it's that simple. If they say no, ask shelters, charity, or the vets for their recommendation, help, or resources.

I have a very non-barfy 8 yr old female who just (somehow) up clear liquid. Completely watery but with a faint smell of non-urine. I didn't see it happen and she sat upright with her tail around her as if unnerved.

The water came out half a body ahead of her and very linear in shape, so it'd make sense if she had barfed from that position, but it was completely clear despite just having ate kibble.

vet? she has thrown up once in 3 years prior to this. Just odd it'd be clear water with no hint of acid (maybe the smell was acid..)

Is it ethical to leave a stray cat behind when you move out of the city he’s in?

I feel regret every day for leaving poor Trooper behind. I didn’t want to take him to a shelter because he’s still partly feral & he might have been put down. I just didn’t know what to do.

I hope you’re OK, Trooper…

>>
I need advice, because google isn't as specific as i'd like.
No image, but I have a 15-16 year old shelter cat. My aunt adopted her, but gave her to me and my mother when she couldn't keep her.
Recently, we got a large flat screen TV. We didn't have the tools to set the mount to the wall, so we just set it down against the wall for a few days. This set her off BADLY, fully hissing and raising hackles at it. She does not like other cats at all, and apparently she's never see her reflection before. We covered the TV, thinking that was the end of it but no. Ever since, she has been hyper vigilant towards any and all reflections in the house. The mirror in my mother's room, the reflection on a window in the kitchen, etc. Even today, she discovered that the side of my computer that's usually against the wall has a reflection and has been trying to get at it since. I've been trying to either hide or cover whatever she finds, but it's getting a bit out of hand. Is there a way I can try and reintroduce her to reflections in a way that she isn't scared of?
>>
>>5061624
Poor old ladycat. Haven't dealt with this myself, but maybe try following cat introduction steps and tips. Keep one room "safe," free of reflections, as best you can. Her favorite foods and treats given gradually closer to her reflection, lots of playtime and affection. Could try feliway too.
How is her behavior and mood when not looking at herself? How does she take just leaving her to look at herself and not covering things, does her big reaction gradually get less intense? Or is it a constant stress for her?

Did you introduce any new scents to the house? My cats (2 brothers) get like this if we are forced to bathe them. We do a 'scent transfer' after the bath now, and it always works well. Basically just get a sock or something similar and rub it against one of the cat's faces, take it over to the other cat and do the same. Alternate between each cat a few times and then you can try and reintroduce them. If this doesn't work, you may need to separate them into different rooms and do the scent transfer much more gradually over the course of a few days. Reward each cat every time it interacts with the scented object.
>>
>>5061448
He will probably come out at night time anon. Is there any way you could test this - leave food somewhere only he will get to?

animals are fucking retarded and kill everything smaller than them before getting killed. don't let your cat out. maybe if you could keep them fenced, but you probably can't.

besides if you got a cat for pest control it will only ever have a chance at helping if contained to a building. outdoors they will eat everything but the (harder to catch) pests and the more distributed scent is not a no-go environment for mice and rats, it's just a signal that they should hide better so pest problems sneak up on you. "a cat lives around here, better be careful" vs "let's not go in the cave that smells like cat pee" are different yknow.

4chan is a safe space for schizophrenics. "Normal" people with "reality based" views like "valhalla isnt real and cats arent incarnations of the old gods, keep them alive, keep them inside" can go fuck off to the hiking trails with their filthy mutt. Oh and if said mutt harms a cat it’s dying. The spirits told me it has to happen. Deal with it, hylic. I am an ascended being and astral project on a nightly basis. When I shed my mortal coil I will feed anubis xylitol.

cars are massively slowed down by speed limiters in the village and there's hardly any cars here anyway. dogs are contained behind big fences or chained otherwise. the animal that should actually be contained. you contain the danger, not the victim
>>
>>5064164
What about the birbs tho and froges?
>>
>>5064164
>my cat invading other peoples yards is the victim. abuse your dog so i can let my cat roam.
no. dogs deserve free run of their yards and cats can stay out. your human action is the prime mover (letting your cat out without an appropriate enclosure).
>>
Outdoor cats are why my budgie can’t go explore :(

fruit trees and crops in garden no longer got pillaged by starlings ever since the cats,. don't know about frogs, never seen them try to kill them but I'm sure it happens, i do feel bad about it since i like frogs. i did rescue a small little lizard out of a cat's mouth. my own mostly indoors cats cannot even kill flies
>>
>>5064168
>dogs deserve free run of their yards and cats can stay out
sure, if the fence is big enough
>>
>>5064169
what a retarded analogy lmao. imagine trying to justify owning a caged parrot in the first place. imagine thinking that a fucking budgie would be able to handle itself outside even if cats didn't exist. the anti cat schizo is truly brain damaged
>>
>>5064173
Yes. The cat owners fence.
>>
>>5064184
Owning a pet parrot can be incredibly rewarding because they’re intelligent, social, and vibrant companions who bring color and life to any home. They can mimic sounds, form strong bonds, and provide endless entertainment and affection. Parrots also promote mental stimulation and responsibility, enriching their owners' lives.

As for budgies, they could thrive in a world without cats because cats are natural predators of small birds. Without cats, budgies would face fewer threats, reducing stress and mortality rates. They’d have more freedom to fly and socialize, leading to healthier, happier populations. This change could foster a safer environment for tiny birds, allowing them to flourish and display their playful, lively nature more fully.

I let my cat out but my yard is fenced in and my cats are old. I also live in a rural area and there are farm cats everywhere wandering out in the open. Cats aren’t meant to be dumb foid apartment animals, they’re not really meant to be something you put endless attention into, they’re little predators that annihilate all small animal life for the sake of keeping pests away from the farm and a farmer doesn’t worry too much if one goes missing since there are plenty more where that came from. Of course I provide my cats with a better life than that, but that is the deal they struck with humanity when they self-domesticated.

But they don’t control pests. They mostly harm native animals while pests adopt more cautious behavior.
Dogs also self domesticated i guess we should let them roam free and ear all the small animals

North America already has bobcats and coyotes, I’m not worried about kots murdering everything in the already artificial environments we live in, they in turn would be prey in the real wilderness of America
>>
There’s a bird nest in the tree in my front yard I couldn’t find it, but my cat brought a baby bird to the porch. I stopped her from killing it, and the bird got away. Poor thing, I feel very guilty. Hope its okay now. Not letting my cat outside until I am certain they are gone.

Is it normal for kots to always wake up at 5am and annoy you to no end until you finally play and feed them?

I love my kot and I'd give my life for her but since this piss demon arrived I haven't had a full night of sleep.

Do you feed her right before bed, can you feed her a larger portion so there's some leftover to go back to? Most cats like schedules too and you can use that. Start feeding her at the same time every morning and night. Might want to try starting at 5:30am and push it back by half hour increments. Ignoring bad behavior and rewarding good. Maybe give her a puzzle feeder or treatball for overnight as well. Most of mine become patient when on a schedule. There is one that doesn't and also wakes me at 5 though lol.

She got used to being fed at 5:30am - 6am and eat whatever during the day, maybe I should move the food and indeed start giving her food at... 22:00 or 12:00am?
She's 2 years old and has been eating at the same times for almost more than a year now. I hope it's not too late to give her the same portions at different times.

don't hunt the outdoor cats! they're very easy to trap and relocate humanely. all of my friends and family just catch them, neuter them, and train them instead of paying shelters money and submitting to karen's bullshit just to get a cat.

Nah just a dumb foid that belongs on reddit, it's incongruent to own a predatory animal and claim you care about "animals and nature", your apartment cat couldn't survive without factory farming. Cats are ultimately happier outside living their lives than they are stuck in a 700sqft apartment. You're doing no favors to your cat but wholly serving yourself and your need for a substitute child locking it indoors. TBQH I believe this sort of pet ownership is somewhat cruel, and you'd be better off not owning a pet if they couldn't stretch their legs and live the lives their instincts and hormones are screaming at them to live. These cats I own are basically older adopted cats, and I've taken them in to allow them to live out their lives in the manner they are accustomed, I won't buy a new cat.

I don't really give a fuck about small birds and rodents in my backyard, they are not going to go extinct in North America, and as stated it would be incongruent to care too much about their suffering while owning a predator and eating meat myself.

>>
>>5064433
Ah yes outdoor cats are happier getting ran over by cars, eaten by larger predators, cat territory gang wars, preyed on by schizo humans, constantly dehydrated, dealing with the weather elements. Totally worth it since they get to eat a bird or frog every now and then.

That's definitely the issue then. I wake up at 7:30 and feed the cat at 8:00, so every day at 7:30 if I'm not up he'll try and wake up me, and at 8:00 if he's not fed will meow until I feed him. I've also heard of cats who will bother their owner at bed time until they go to bed.

It kind of just happened. While I wake up later, I live with someone who has to wake up at around 5-5:30am for their work and the cat just kind of woke up with them.

Today tho we're going to try changing the feeding times a bit to make 12am and 12pm.
