Title. My friend's cat was an outside cat and he went to pet it when it was chilling on his driveway every morning before driving to work. It was missing one morning and night. No biggie, its an outside cat, right? The next morning they were informed by their next door neighbor that the crazy old lady across the street picked the cat up and stole it out of their driveway, their NEXT DOOR neighbor a witness. Later this day, they are informed by this aforementioned crazy old lady that their cat has been put down when she brought it to the shelter, because it was in too much pain to continue living or be diagnosed. Complete bullshit. This was one of those cats that's small for their age, and this lady looks like a witch who sacrifices cats to the elder gods or some shit. Depending on where you’re located, even small animals like frogs and lizards can be pretty toxic so in some ways it’s worse than a rabbit since at least a rabbit only has the car/predator problem, and not a prey drive that might get it gobbling poison. Then there’s the danger from feral cats, and all the diseases that brings. I’ve had three cats over my lifetime and other than letting them wander the enclosed deck? I don’t let them roam. The shortest lived died at 13, the longest died at 17. Then again I cared about them and didn’t want them turned into road kill.
