Call me a retard if you want, but I don’t understand why we couldn’t genetically engineer human-sized praying mantises with at least simian-like intelligence. Is it a lack of technology, willpower, funding, or all of the above?
>>5059523because physics doesn't work that way
Everyone wants to make small species larger, but making miniature versions of large species would be much more profitable.
>>5059523It would be like saying "anything is possible" it doesn't mean anything if it would take hundreds of years of consistent effort and funding to realize. Governments don't even last that long before they've had such significant regime changes it's not even the same thing. I just don't think the chaotic nature of humans allow for feats that are so beyond their more immediate grasp.
>>5059523Because they have a completely different way of breathing air then anything of that size. The largest land dwelling creature insect like, the coconut crab, freeze in a completely different way than any other insect or praying mantis. The coconut crab is much more efficient at taking in oxygen, but still is unable to reach even human height.
>>5059523look at those skinny ass legs. I could snap them with a single leg press.
>>5059547>what can a mantis even do though
>>5059549I would rip its ugly ass head off with a single well placed triangle choke, WAKKA!
>>5059523Giant mantises are GAY. Much like OP
>>5059523... Why exactly would you want a human sized mantis with intelligence?
>>5059586To show everyone that they were IGNORANT FOOLS to laugh at OP's scientific ideas.
>another person who doesn't understand if insects could survive at anything bigger than 12 inches we would've seen it by now Reminder, the big roaming bugs of 400mil years ago didn't die out because of muh oxygen levels decreasing, it was selective pressure by superior predators
>>5059586Why indeed.
>>5059527I have great news for you. More or less every domesticated animal, pigs, horses, dogs, etcetera, exist in miniature versions.
>>5059651They're still too large. I want a guinea pig sized horse
>>5059586breed with it and create a race of mantis men
>>5059656I'm sure they're working on it.
>>5059523Retard
>>5059523The truth is that Zorak already exists, you're too late as it's already been done.
With AGI, everything will be possible.
>>5059651They all look like retarded midgets. I want perfect miniatures of adult animals.
they have spines all over themselves, whatever your plan is here it's going to hurt
There are a few problems1.we must find the genes that allow insects to become more intelligent because our nerves system and genes are so diffrent2. The problem with molding...it takes lots of energy and it the exoskeleton has to be even thicker everything it molds because of the square cube law....more mass.more pressure more muscle more "bones".3.oxygen.insect nether have lung nore a closed vascular system so a very ineffective way of getting the oxygen to muscles and organes...they basically only have tunnel that lets oxygen diffuse to them until it reaches an organ.
>>5059523It would collapse under it's own weightYou could make them but in another planet that works with other rules
>>5060373circulatory system is not a problem with spiders, interestingly - they've already got the makings of a vascularized system and have actual hearts and lungs. their brains are also large and widely distributed within their cephalothoraxes, and there's a lot of leeway for increased neural density there.as far as arthropods to make large and intelligent, i'd say spiders are ideal.
>>5059552>triangle chokeThat's gay, anon.
>>5059523>Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men. Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line on the floor. You'll know when the test starts.
>>5059527Are you taking about fairies?
>>5059586I wanna punch the shit out of it
>>5059527this
Thanks to your thread I had a fucking awful nightmare about a giant mantis attacking me.
>>5059523If bugs where that big we would be completely fucked
>>5059649>>5062558yeah I would be if you catch my drift heh heh
All of the above plus giant arthropods would be extremely dangeroushttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-qAiVVwO38
>>5062559I don't get it
>>5059523>>5059547>>5059549Baki goes over this scenario thoroughly.
>>5059523You just want to fuck one. I know your game, and I agree with it.
>>5062857but thats an anime girl
>>5059523You aren't prepared for the consequences, dra-trin.
