Sane people who get a pet WANT that pet. Not using a pet as some kind of holistic cure. Fish people get fish because it interests them, even though you would find them boring. People who own dogs enjoy the dogs and are okay with the downsides.

People don't get dogs INSTEAD of kids, people get dogs kids or not because dogs are nice. There is no dichotomy here. Dogs and cats are FAMILY pets. Normal, intelligent, mentally healthy people like owning pets and raise their kids with pets. You on the other hand seem like a miserable, pepe-posting incel who gets unreasonably angry he has to put down the video games and do something for someone else. I have a feeling that you have the kind of personality that would describe holding a job any harder than being salaried consultant/web dev that does absolutely nothing as "being a fucking cuck and a slave to schlomo" and scream internally at the thought of mandatory overtime.

The way you describe the way your dogs behavior just screams neglectful owner. Dogs pick up on how much of a miserable autist you are and become miserable in turn.. Normal people who don't have aspergers, clinical depression, antisemitism, narcissism etc raise happy, well behaved dogs because, again, animals simply pick up on how their owners act and adapt.

annoyance, stress, cleaning up shit? your pets are unfulfilled. it's inaccurate to describe pet ownership as necessarily immoral, unethical slavery but that doesn't mean it can't be. and with some pet owners, especially gamers and internet addicts, it is far closer to slavery, bleak captivity, than it should be.

a dog is as intelligent as a seven year old child, with the social cognition of a 14-16 year old. dogs have learned to consistently understand english grammar better than chimps. and even with half the intelligence, cats have far greater emotional needs than a computer addicted autistic can provide for, and are nearly as much work as dogs because cats specific instinctive needs and cognitive skills (like an excellent long term memory for their tiny brain) make them quickly learn to dislike shitty people. people like you just shouldn't own animals.

It depends on the pet in particular, your age and circumstances, the whole chemistry of the setup. I grew up in a big family, and for some reason none of us liked dogs, yet all got along well with a placid and cleanly American Wirehair cat--the runt of a litter one of my sister's friends bred by accident. Not even inconvenient, given the light distribution of labor, the magic of purring, kneading visitations. In general I like the breed, but also notice that they're almost nonexistent among both feral populations and households predominated by idiots.
