They said to give the lab a small cup of food twice a day and 3/4 of a can of green beans at night (the dachshund gets the other quarter.) This is Pup. Pup is 2 and I've had him since May. Whenever he sees a human that isn't a full adult he growls and gets VERY aggressive. Same with other dogs. I fear that someday I accidentally let go of the leash and he hurts someone badly. I love him so much but I'm clueless to what to do, all my dogs before him were nice and wouldn't hurt anyone. OK, day three of dog-sitting my dad's lab and daschund. Attempted to take them for a walk. I didn't think the little one would go for a walk under any circumstances, as I've tried to walk him in the past, but he actually likes to walk with the lab-- but only with the lab present. I put her up, and he refused to leave the driveway.The lab was horrible. They told me to walk her with a prong collar, which is what she used at an obedience school she went to. These cause pain to the dog when they tug at the leash, right? This dog was SCREAMING the entire time, non-stop high-pitched barking exceptionally loud, pulling extremely hard. I made her stop a few times, but she would immediately switch back on into full screaming-while-choked-with -steel-barbs mode the instant I took a step forward. I didn't yank on her leash, she just choked herself.I think she did better the first time I walked her because I ran with her for a few minutes to help her get some energy out before slowing down to a (rapid) walk. I didn't want to do that this time since they had just eaten. But I'm pretty tempted to just let this dog be a veal the rest of her life. Sadly the little one will have to be too.

Just lost my dog to kidney failure, she was a 9 year old lab, i got her at a dog shelter when she was 10 months old.Please tell me i did the right thing to put her down. She refused to eat her favorite food, and only drank a tiny bit for 2 days. She started throwing up this bright yellow, really bad smelling bile, and completely refused to drink for a full day after that. I brought her in, and spent my last moments with her. She could not walk, and i had to carry her into my car, and into the vet. The veterinarian after careful consideration told me that putting her to sleep would be the best option, and even if I put her on fluids, due to her age, it would just prolong her suffering.I think my dog understood, i'm not sure. I laid by her side and cried, giving her pats and scratches in her favorite spots until she slept, and passed away.I'm still doubting myself if it was the right call, she was such a good dog, she was my dog, not just my parent's dog when i was younger. She was my first dog i had when i moved out on my ownim having such a hard time to cope, i literally did some Christmas shopping for her a few days ago for a new toy.
