I like frogs

When you lick some frogs, you die. When you lick a different frog you meet god. And some other frogs when you lick them nothing happens.
>>5067270>When you lick a different frog you meet godMetaphorically, and sometimes quite literally. Don't fuck with 5-MeO or 5-HO.
>>5066748I love frogs, wish I had more pictures of them :)
>>5067368I recommend scouting for Pixie/African Bullfrog pics, Whites Treefrogs and Budgets Frogs. They have the goofiest and funniest pics, kind of like the dog/cats of the amphibian world.
>>5066818hello my fellow frog
>>5067368
>>5067679nice pixie
Everybody post their favourite frogs! For me? It's the common water frog. We have a lot of those in my country. My brother and I used to catch them when we were kids. They're not anything special but I think they're cute.

>>5068303I love my ABF so much but I fucking swear if he's not sired as a male and turns out to be female I will be absolutely LIVID
Does anyone have that picture of the guy holding the frog and the frog looks fucking ripped?I've been trying to find it but I can't get any god forsaken search engine to understand what I'm looking for.

Getting a second african bullfrog tommorow. I don't know why but I wanted another one so I have partioned the tank of my 6 month old female so the second one can grow without being eaten while he's still small, then once he's big enough remove the partion
>>5083404Nice. Keeping them together goes against "conventional wisdom" of the hobby but don't listen to those retards. As long as the tank is big enough they should be fine. Only thing I would recommend is to give them a big water area, they're more aquatic than people think.Really annoying how the frog hobby has been infested by faggots like pic related
>>5083455Every niche hobby has a subreddit, and thus redditors.
He has arrived.
And hes tiny.
Very tiny...
>>5083513Do they ever blow too hard and pop? (the frog not the redditors)
>>5083936Imagine getting some pig skin and blowing it into balloon. Even if it was thin the amount of pressure required to pop a pig skin balloon would far outweigh the strength of your lungs. Similar principles apply with smaller things with even less lung capacity like frogs.
The only froge image I have now

WHY ARE FROGS SO FAT
>>5091150why are you?
I found a frog outside, little guy was pretty cold and barely moving so I brought him inside. I've got him resting on a regular basic little cloth washrag, to warm up. Anything else I can do to help him out? Gonna look up some fruits/veggies that frogs like to maybe find something I can feed him.
>>5091334Ok the internet says not to feed them fruits/veggies. It's going to be cold again tonight though so I'd feel bad if I let him back out and said good luck.
>>5091335He has warmed up to the point of moving around and is now back outside, more near the fence line with the small trees and foilage, and not near my makeshift driveway.

>>5084514I want to be this happy someday
My Pixie has been down for like 6 months at this point and he probably won't ake up until April. He did this last year too so for being probably a year and a half old he's still really small.
>>5091685I'm pretty sure pixies don't need to do that with indoor setups. They can aestivate/brumate but if you keep temps and moisture dialed in and consistent your pixie won't need to go into dormancy. You sure he's not just behaving normally and burying himself during the day? Throw some bugs in his enclosure to roam about and you might find a few missing the following day. Mine won't come out of his hole but if locusts are hopping around he senses it and comes out at night to eat before burying himself again. As for size it could be down to him being a female as they top out at 5 inches, but some males can be on the smaller side too at 6 inches instead of the sterotypical 10 inches. That or you got the other species of pixie or "edible/dwarf african bullfrogs" which grow up to 5 inches for males and females despite looking similar.
>>5091693If a herp is subject to seasonal changes in its habitat it is beneficial to provide it in captivity. It's good for their health/hormones and makes them live longer. In some species the instinct is so strong they will do it themselves even with no special conditions, like when ball pythons go on hunger strike.>>5091685If you want to wake him up simulate the rain season
>>5091910
>>5091904From what I am aware with pixies they estivate in the wild, but estivation happens during dry seasons so they form a mucus cucoon to maintain humidity. I don't think they hibernate or trully brumate. I am not sure how much of a positive impact forcing a pixie into estivation would actually provide beyond adding the risk of them potentially failing to estivate and dying in the process, with the risk being far higher in juveniles. But I am curious about what you said regarding lifespans and seasonal conditions, could you link something going over that? I'm getting a Pacman soon and they brumate from what I am aware.
>>5092342Aestivation/brumation in captivity is for the animal to slow down their metabolism and rest. It quite literally slows down their aging. I read somewhere the oldest african bullfrog in captivity was over 40 years old and he was put to sleep for half the year. I think the source was reptilemagazine but i cant find it since they fucked up the website. And yes death is always a risk especially in little ones with not enough fat reserves but im not saying to torture them with 10 month brumation. Just a month or two. You're not going to find a lot because it's still unpopular in the normie reptile keepers. But look at people who breed frogs for more info. Also people who keep temperate herp species and especially tortoise keepers, in those circles aestivation is the norm for their animals.
>>5093364Always have been Gerald
>>5093133Love these little guys. Fairly resilient too but they really deserve to have nicer setups than fishbowls
>>5093517
2 of my African Dwarf frogs are getting freaky. I have 4 of them in a 20 gallon tank with a bunch of snails and dense vegetation. What are the odds their tadpoles survive with no intervention? They're retarded as shit so will probably try to eat them but they're also blind and incompetent so will they even be able to?
>>5066748We all know the magnificent Toad is the true Emperor of the animal kingdom. The Toad is the one deserving of all the praise, discussion and accolades, the Toads grace and majesty are unmatched.Tell me, why do you waste your breath on fr_gs? (At best the peasant of the animal kingdom)
>>5094734Maybe. The tadpoles act like fish and swim midwater or at the surface so they should avoid the adults. I would put in something like salvinia or water lettuce.
>>5095033Tadpoles literally pog
>>5066818>>5067483why is it shaped like that
>>5095539So what you're saying is that it's full of piss?
>>5095511When it rains it drinks as much water as it can and then basically hibernates underground until the next time it rains.
>>5095542So what you're saying is that it's REALLY full of piss?
