>>
>>5070255
Give them a small dose of marijuana once a day and give them treats and cuddles when they're high

After 1-2 weeks of this routine (taper to every other day for a week and then quit) you will have successfully changed your cats personality into something worth scooping a litterbox for. I do this with every cat I own. Yes it does make them even more retarded, but that's a good thing. They get too stupid to even try to escape.

the ld50 of thc in cats is unknown. they’ve been hospitalized at almost 15 ng/ml blood thc and recovered completely. 4ng/ml is what would result from taking 50mg of thc so i assume such cats were hotboxed in a hash den for hours.

for dogs its 3g/kg. yes 3 grams of thc. fifteen dank ass 1g joints per kg.

That’s a funny way of saying you’re scientifically illiterate. Cannabis is nowhere near toxic and has legitimate veterinary uses for pain and anxiety control.

My neighbors pitbull is permanently non-aggressive from the conditioning effect of chilling out on 10mg a day most days. They now associate everything with a good stimulus. It’s basic dog training really. The dog hasn’t gotten dumber and seems to be more obedient. My neighbor thinks their dog just got calmer with age. My ears, fingers, pets, and limbs are safe.

I see no reason why this wouldn’t work on aggressive and anxious cats with purposeful cognitive behavioral therapy and a lower dose like 2mg. I do disagree that it would make cats retarded which is why they dont escape. More likely they become attached to their home due to the conditioning effect.
>>
>>5070358
>hey, you know those medical facts you posted? kill yourself. we don’t do facts, logic, and science here.
Let me guess, you’re also against giving cats melatonin or using feliway because you take a religious approach to the "natural" behavior of a man-made species.

Ironically cats and cannabis were co-domesticated and cats have a superior thc tolerance to dogs, indicating that they adapted to early middle eastern temples that were heavy with the smoke of qanah basem (also jesus’ favorite anointing oil ingredient)

High doses can cause ataxia and confusion but the ld50 is 3g/kg for dogs and cats have been hospitalized and recovered on inhhumanly high doses such that the ld50 is not known and likely so high that it is not worth trying to find out.

That does not preclude therapeutic dosing. Whats next, dont give your cat melatonin because 5mg+ might make the nauseous?

You lack the ability to think critically. I think your real concern is that people are beginning to see cats as their inferiors and property rather than magical familiars.

Traditional anti-inflammatories are literally more toxic. As in, harm is inevitable and vets tell you to just accept it and keep paying $100s per month to do what 0.25mg of a cheap plant would.

Because humans have rights and cats are property. We do in fact have a right to modify our animals behavior and use home remedies to treat behavioral and medical problems.
>>
>>5070386
so you admit that whatever the fuck you are trying to sell is harmful to cats and just don't care because your frontal lobe is not developed?
>>
>>5070376
my cats are indoor cats doe, I don't like the risk of my cats going outdoors and getting hurt

>>
>>5070389
It’s not harmful to cats at all. It’s not harmful to humans either. The only question is autonomy. Which humans have, and cats do not. Animals are property.

An anxious human has the right to refuse treatment because they are not someone elses property.
An anxious cat can be treated whenever its owner feels like it. Since cannabis is practically unable to harm them and only causes transient wobblies at absurdly large, human sized doses, cat-sized doses are fine. It is literally less harmful and less dangerous than common antibiotics. There is more harm done by feeding cats kibble (compared to NONE).

Do you also believe melatonin regimens to correct a nocturnal schedule harm cats somehow? Because they don’t.
>>
>>5070392
it causes convulsions, ataxia and a fuckton of other symptoms even at small doses, by your own admission too
>>
>>5070394
No, it doesn’t. Unless by small doses you mean smaller but still human sized hits of pure THC with no CBD or terpenes. You’re talking about doses in "cat ate several hash gummies" territory you retard. Do actual scientific research instead of reading karen/AI generated scare blogs that exaggerate, virtue signal, and twist things to keep normoids in line (the same ones that tell people neutering kittens is good for them). There are studies out there of cats that were treated for arthritis and anxiety using 25/75 and 50/50 thc/cbd solutions and the worst that ever happened was a cat got dizzy and then put on a lower dose.

It is less toxic than gabapentin.

Link the "proof" THC is toxic to cats period and it’s not just excessively high doses that cause TEMPORARY and non life threatening side effects. Note that the elevated liver enzymes are possibly related to damage from the recent steroid regimen, meaning the cat should have been on weed to begin with.
>>
>>5070404
it doesn't need to be life threatening to be toxic or dangerous, for example you won't die if I inject you with chemotherapy but you would be rather annoyed I did that
don't give your cats cannabis, don't try to train your cats like that
your cats are property in the legal sense but they are still living breathing creatures
if your cat annoys you so much and you just want a bitch that you can train the personality out of go get a dog and send it to puppy school or something
goodnight
>>
>>5070407
can that cat really eat all those hot dogs before they go bad ??
>>
>>5070405
>5.5ng/ml blood thc
A human would need to take over 50mg thc to reach this. I’m not sure of exactly how quickly cats metabolize thc but there’s no way this cat was in the range of recommended doses. 50mg is not recommended for humans let alone cats. That’s CUD levels of intoxication.

So the cat took many times the recommended dose and was fine after. Meaning it’s not very toxic at all. Such an overdose of any other pain relief or anxiety relief drug would nearly or certainly cause death.

You’re just scientifically illiterate. I have personally dosed both dogs and cats and never observed anything worse than (desirable levels of) lethargy. And that was in a 100lb pitbull getting a bit extra to go beyond medical therapy and into psychiatric use.
>>
>>5070409
>You need to be subservient to cats. Only dogs can be subservient to people. Your cats "personality" is sacred and you must accept it.
Oh sure, and telling a cat it can’t do something is abuse, and training cats is abuse. Cats are our gods!!!1!

No. Cats are property. If a cat is anxious or stays up all night i’m not putting up with it and neither should anyone.

Note the dose range for cats
obtaining a concentration of 18 mg/mL of CBD and 8 mg/mL ofTHC.
The medication was initiated at 0.5 mg/kg PO q12h; however, the patient exhibited moderate sedation and ataxia during the first 2 days of treatment. Consequently, the dose was reduced to 0.25 mg/kg, and the adverse effects resolved

continued on treatment with another manufactured cannabis oil (50/50 THC/CBD formula)

Don’t hotbox your cat obviously, retard. They don’t even get enough to get high, just calm.

You probably don’t even keep cats off countertops and tables. Cats get hurt slipping off high surfaces and falling against chairs, slick floors, etc every day.

My aunt's cat was super high strung and fearful all the time. Now she (the cat) gets actual THC. A very low amount mixed into a treat (basically a cat edible) to calm her nerves. That being said, don't give THC or marijuana to your cat unless your vet gives you the okay and specifies a specific amount for a condition like my aunt's cat. Do not give them cannabis or it's compounds for "recreational" use, they will end up just as retarded as human recreational weed smokers.

To be honest, it's only in high summer that I keep to a diurnal schedule, if left to my own devices. i've lived for the last 8 years where the cat population within easy walking distance is a bit ridiculous in its variety, indoors and out, The only breed to my liking that's missing here is the American Wirehair, which is very long-lived, affectionate, and civilized. It apparently does best, and is most common, in leafy suburbs.
>>
i have an 11 year old semi-feral cat who lives on my porch, he's lived on my porch his whole life

in the winter it gets down to -5 C (23 F) to 0 Celsius, sometimes colder.

he's lived in a box i made that's semi-insulated, and sleeps on a heated pad in there. a few years ago i installed a 250 watt heater to keep the temperature in the box above 10 C (50 F)

since he's getting older, i want to take the bite out of the air, and heat his box to around 18-21 C (65-70 F). i just got him a new 600 watt heater, which can easily get it this hot so far.

are there any downsides to this though?

he's a short hair cat but he gets pretty thick fur.

will he find it too hot? will this cause his winter coat to fall off?

At what point is it acceptable to hit a cat?

I was staying at a friend's house recently, in the morning I woke up and the cat was lying on a chest of drawers next to my bed. I went and started stroking the cat. The cat seemed to be enjoying it, he was purring and rubbing his head against my hand, then out of nowhere he just suddenly bit my wrist hard enough to draw blood. I wouldn't have minded if it was just a playful bite, but he obviously wanted to hurt me. I responded by punching him in the stomach with reasonable force, enough to hurt him but not cause serious damage. He yelped and scampered away. Then I had to go and get rabies injections for the next few days because it was in the Philippines and I didn't want to take any chances.

I figure it's reasonable to punch a cat if it bites you, right? Cats understand violence since it's how they communicate with each other if one cat does something the other doesn't like. I'm sure he got the message that randomly biting people is unacceptable.
>>
>>5073387
It's a reflex, you got hurt and can't help it so I don't get why you're asking here
You should go get that bite checked out first of all before you worry about the ethics of hitting there
>>
>>5073391
And yes I know you got rabies shot but you should check out if anything else happened
>>
>>5073391
It wasn't a reflex, I intentionally decided to punch the cat because I was pissed off. Just wondering whether cat lovers would consider this reasonable behaviour. I mean if my friend had walked in and seen me punching her cat would she have been angry? I didn't tell her I punched it, just that it bit me.

And yes I went to the local hospital and got rabies and tetanus shots. Though frankly considering the condition of the local village hospital I think I'm in more danger from those shots than I am from the cat bite. Lol

I have a new friend who’s been through very tough times before moving in. He’s got a very unfortunate combo of being deaf and probably siamese and in pain. Anything I can do to reduce the crying at night? He was good the first few days but tonight he’s just been losing it and I’m not sure what to do. I’ve spent time with him but the second I leave the room he starts going at it for hours on end and it’s hard to sleep. Can’t have him roaming the house at this point since I have another cat who isn’t comfortable with him yet.

hi everyone, i brought a kitten in from outside. it spent several nights in a row mewing outside my window so i began leaving food out. during one of the times i went out i saw it running around in the busy street. there was really heavy rain the other night too so i felt like i had to bring this cat in at the first opportunity. i’m suddenly worried it’s too young and didn’t finish weaning off its mother. does anyone have suggestions on how to tell if it needs formula? it already ate some solid food (both wet and dry) but hasn’t eaten since in probably 12 hours. i’ll call to make a vet appointment once they open (soon) they just might not have appointments until later this week

My kot got up on the chain link fence, demonstrating he could easily escape my yard, I'm glad it's winter and he won't be wanting to go out for extended periods. I've let him out for up to 8 hours during the heat of the summer (he mostly napped in a chair the entire time), I don't trust him to be outside at dusk at this time of year anymore. I kinda figured he's just an old kot and didn't give a fuck about going outside the chainlink fence, but I've let him out beyond it into my garden and he must be bored of his little territory...he shits and pisses in the fenced in area, btw. Also, I've heard coyotes at night and he's interacted with strange dogs through the fence.

Cats are automatons. They do not possess reasoning abilities like dogs. They can not understand guilt and fault like dogs. They are not self aware like dogs. They can not make concessions or tough it out for a greater expected reward.

You can’t hit them. They only form a primitive association that humans=pain. That is the most sophisticated response they can manage.
>but cats hurt each other
Yes cats do attack each other. To make the other cat fuck off. They’re solitary animals. They do not need or possess the capacity for enforcing and understanding rules.

>>
>>5075113
>noooo you need to accept my facebook karen npc myths or DIE!
Grain free is a pseudoscientific fad.
Cats have eaten grain for 10,000 years. The majority of a feral cats diet is scavenged food waste.

Domesticated cats have reduced brain volume and body size and increased digestive amylase activity compared to their wild ancestors. This indicates that they have already adapted to eating a nutrient poor, grain inclusive diet and feeding grain free simply means feeding less but more expensive food to the same effect.

Quality cat food has an ideal amount of grain as filler. It does not matter if it’s replaced with whey powder or something. Nutrient profile and moisture content matter far more.

Early studies by Morris et al. observed that adult cats could efficiently digest all carbohydrates added to a meat-based diet, despite the described evolutionary adaptations along the feline gastrointestinal tract [28]. The total apparent digestibility of starch is reported to be 40–100%, depending on source and treatment [28,29,30], which proves that cats can digest and absorb carbohydrates. As in other mammals, proper processing and cooking is necessary. Carbohydrate sources are not provided to cats as raw ingredients. Typically, carbohydrate sources are ground and cooked during the extrusion or canning process, which improves digestibility. Poorly digestible carbohydrates or excessive amounts of highly digestible carbohydrates that are not digested in the small intestine provide substrate for microbial fermentation in the colon
>>
Grain containing kibble does not matter as long as it’s high quality and you feed your cat the correct amount instead of free feeding.

Despite an increased proportion of owners feeding dry food, Australian researchers found no association with dry food feeding in 1993 [90] or 2007 [86] and no increase of obesity occurred over this period [86].

Just lost my fifteen year old to CKD. And I genuinely did try everything to make him as comfortable as I could and the guilt just won't stop. Are you at peace knowing your cat lived a good 15 years? Also, would you regularly vaccinate or only when a kitten?
>>
>>5075218
Its a couple of hours after the fact but yes, I'm happy I gave him fifteen years. He had a weak constitution when I adopted him and wasn't really suppose to survive the early years. Had a smaller pupil in his left, so you know that tends to mean there's underlying issues. Came from a sick mother so genetics had its hand. Had a very picky appetite so I had to always make sure he was getting his calories and protein. I know that I'm being greedy in wanting him to have lived longer and I should be happy he's not in pain anymore but adjusting to him being gone is, well, its just the matter of the fact. I'm happy I had him. He was my love and joy.

I regularly vaccinated him until the August diagnosis where the vet told me to wait and see if his levels were to rise up again. Sadly. It didn't.
>>
>>5075244
Levels of what?

Henlo frens, I've never had a kot but am thinking about getting one. Do you let your kot free roam? I wouldn't want to deprive them but I'd also feel bad about them hurting birbs. Maybe I should just get an old shelter kot although shorter life and potential vet bills make that seem unappealing. Is indoors only kot bad? Would do leashed walks and let them chill in the yard just not roam
>>
>>5075289
If you can not keep your cat contained to your yard, do not let them outside. They are barely above rabbits on the food chain. Even birds will eat them. If they escape many more animals will gladly eat your cay including dogs. Dogs are stronger, smarter, and when young, faster, and are active hunters instead of ambush predators so they’re capable of using deceit and respectable tactics.

That’s before considering the outsized damage cats do to native animals. Studies in california confirmed that cats paradoxically make mice and rats more common by clearing native animals out and allowing cat-adapted invasives to move in. Cats have only ever helped with pests when locked in buildings. Egyptians would keep over 20 cats in one storehouse!

Good news: cats do not have a concept of freedom or outdoors. Their brains are very small and simple. They only need to patrol previously explored territory and meet their stimulation needs. They can do this inside. Just get it fixed so it doesnt piss inside or fuck off trying to breed.

Based
My cat used to kill the moles in my yard, but now she hasn't caught anything in months.
If I don't have enough food in her bowl he will gobble some up and regurgitate it somewhere else in the house so I don't see how feeding her less will motivate her to hunt more

Getting a kitten on 18th december
Ordered a shitload of cat-related stuff from amazon
Any quick tips on how to settle him in and avoid stressing him needlessly?
Any non-obvious “cat equipment” recommendations?
Had a cat previously, so i am familiar with all the necessities. ( She died in February - 17 years old Here is her photo. )

Cats don’t need to be hungry to kill, they do it for the dopamine hit

My cat has left the mice half dead multiple times, they crawl away but generally are too damaged to survive the attack, he loses interest when they stop moving (he’ll toss them in the air and pop them a few times first)

Seems his kill today was clean

One of my cats has been congested for the last few days. If he's still like this into the next week I'm going to take him to the vet to see if it's more than just a simple bug, allergy, or who knows.

Do cats commit full bonds with more than one?
My big cat is clearly bonded to me by his behavior and just tolerates the little cat. The little cat's behavior shows she's bonded to the big cat and is always skittish around me.
