If you had a lone rabbit and you gave it enough attention, then yes it would be attached to you similarly to a dog, and would experience anxiety when you're away, like a dog. However unlike a dog that is detrimental to a bun's health in the long term. On the other hand, providing another bun companion alleviates this issue but also decreases the chance of either bun attaching to you as much.

I just got two buns from a nearby meat farmer white and orange. I regret my decision to go to a breeder rather than rehoming one, but I plan to rescue a third one here in the near future to at least make up for that. The white one is a female named Pinoko (Pino), and the Orange one is named Atom. They are very good rabbits. Both are fixed and healthy. Sadly, I fear that due to the way they were raised during the first three months of their lives, they will never fully relax around me, much less come to desire the physical touch of any human. Can anyone here confirm or deny if this assumption is true?

I would like them to be at least somewhat at ease living out their lives with me. Anyway, I'll continue doing as you've suggested, and if you have any other ideas I should consider, please do let me know.

At best, nothing happens, at worst, they're made somewhat uncomfortable by it. If done daily, they would just get used to the odor and not care one way or another about it. I don't think the odor alone would have any lasting biological impact on them, just the unfamiliarity of it at the start.

I did blow some smoke in its face and it seemed to like it. Got hungry afterwards lol. This was also a heavily socialized bunny that played with kids. I should spend more than just an hour or two, and instead opt to just do whatever tasks I can while sitting/laying on the ground. Funny thing is I was told by some youtuber that rabbits greet by touching each other's noses or like sniffing each other's faces for a split second, so I figured I'd lay on my stomach to see if that would do anything. Here's a video I recorded of Atom (he's usually more skittish and nervous). He walked directly up to me today and touched my nose with his (but not before nudging the camera lol). This gesture alone has really eased my nerves, and, in my eyes, solidified exactly what I need to do. Lay with them more than I already have been. Anyway, thanks for your advice. I may post more in future threads with updates on them, so stay tuned for that I suppose!
