The supreme victor of evolution.

in biomass only,in number of species beetles are the winrars
>>
Yeah, find a niche and fill it up.
>>
I only recently learned that ants are a type of wasp.
>>
>>5076622
You only recently learned patently false information?
>>
>>5076504
Termite mogs.
>>
>>5076651
No. It's the same family as wasps. Or they evolved from them or something, I don't remember. The winged caste are the true form of the ant.
>>
>>5076664
Do you think humans are a type of orangutan, because they are both in the same family?
>>
>>5076672
I'd be more general and call both apes.
Oh here's where I read it. The opening paragraph of the wikipedia article for "ant".
"Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera.[2] Ants evolved from vespoid wasp ancestors in the Cretaceous period."

Saying they /are/ wasps was an oversimllification. They're Hymenopterans, which includes wasps and ants.

Wikipedia doesn’t publish facts in political articles. It is made by humans. All humans conspire. All humans have agendas. All humans lie.

Don’t trust humans.

Humans are also a kind of fish

stupid "everything is crabs" bullshit

What is the queen's tax policy?
>>
>>5079582
They mostly eat termites actually.
Ants are just a complement.
>>
>>5076651
It’s patently true. Ants are wingless wasps. It’s not up for debate. They are a wasp lineage that lost its wings.

>>5076672
It’s like saying humans are a type of great ape. Which, also, is not up for debate. Humans are neotenized, self domesticated chimps with strong adaptations to a diet that is over 50% animal tissue, which supports the growth and maintenance of the largest brain of any ape, and really isn’t that spectacular or improbable of a mutation because its just one body part getting bigger and that mutation being able to persist because it happened in a population that was already scavenging and hunting meat, most likely by riverbanks and coasts (humans, without industry and agriculture, require a lot of nutrients that are hard to get anywhere but fish)

Its only hard to believe because normal low to mid-intellect humans have strong instincts for avoiding other more distantly related primates and lack the introspective tendencies to realize why those might exist. They could, in fact, be the reason we split.

Stepping back from the human perspective even the most derived west and east asian homo sapiens subspecies are visibly, obviously - apes. As surely as a bear is obviously a caniform, not a giant cat.
>>
>>5076687
The wasp ancestors were so visually, obviously wasps, that if one flew in your face today you would call it a wasp. They are wasps.

It’s not a stretch until someone starts saying all insects are shrimp, which is like saying all terrestrial vertebrates are fish, even though their gill arch derived structures are so twisted up they look nothing like a fish beyond having a spine, a skull, and "bony fins" (feet and hands) but at the end of long complex stalks unlike anything ever seen in fish.
>>
>>5076504
Not really, they're too small and too genetically bottlenecked since they're eusocial.
They have succeeded in their niche but they're no humans.
>>

They are just lame-ass floor wasps. Spiteful, angry. Nobody wants to be a shitty ant, but everybody wants to be a wasp. Countless insects mimic wasps. Even spiders, who are supposed to eat insects.
>>
>>5081312
No, saying ants and wasps are both the same family is like saying humans are apes.
That family is not called "wasps".
You are wrong.
>>
>>5081986
>No, saying ants and wasps are both the same family is like saying humans are apes.
which is also completely true, so spot on analogy there actually.
>That family is not called "wasps".
technically true, in the absolute most meaningless way possible. it's impossible to group all wasps together without also including all ants and bees. so either "wasps" don't exist, or ants and bees are wasps.
