Bats.
Bats are pretty awesome. I live in Arizona and when I am out in the hot tub, watching them fly over me is weirdly cathartic. Perhaps it's because I know they are the controlling factor for insects that are a nuisance. Everything in the world has a place and bats make that evident when you watch their habits.

Outside of being a food source of other animals and spreading pathogens, they don't have a purpose; however, the former is important for the rest of the food chain. As long as mosquitoes leave me alone, I accept them as a necessary component of wildlife.
